HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. (a) The normal hours of work for an employee are not a guarantee of work per day or per week, or a guarantee of days of work per week. The normal hours of work shall be seven and one-half hours per day, and seventy-five hours in any bi- weekly period. The normal daily tour shall consist of seven and one-half hours, exclusive of a one-half hour unpaid meal period. Employees shall be entitled to a fifteen minute paid break during each half of the normal daily tour, at a time designated by the Employer. Employees required for reporting purposes shall remain at work for a period of up to fifteen minutes which shall be unpaid. Should the reporting time extend beyond fifteen minutes however, the entire period shall be considered overtime for the purposes of payment. Requests for change in posted work schedules must be submitted in writing and co- signed by the employee willing to exchange days off or shifts and are subject to the discretion of the Administrator or her designate. In any event, it is understood that such a change initiated by the employee and approved by the Employer shall not result in overtime compensation or payment or any other claims on the Employer by any employee under the terms of this Agreement. Where there is a change to Daylight Savings from Standard Time or vice-versa, an employee who is scheduled and works a full shift shall be paid based on for a 40-seven and half hour work week but normally work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period; employees are normally scheduled for either three 12-hour shifts or four 12-hour shifts in a weektour rather than the actual hours worked. There shall be no split shifts. At least 2 employees are normally two full tours of time off shall be scheduled between shifts or changeover of shifts. A shorter period of time shall be scheduled between shifts or changeover of shifts by mutual consent. (applies to all Homes except Oxford Regional Nursing Home) Employees hired prior to June on 8- hour maintenance specific tours on a permanent basis will not be rotated without their consent. (applies to Oxford Regional Nursing Home only) Employees hired prior to October on specific tours on a permanent basis will not be rotated without their consent. Employees hereinafter employed may be required to rotate over three shifts but the Employer will endeavour to rotate them over two shifts. The Employer will consider requests for permanent evening or night tours and such requests shall be granted when possible. A shift commencing at or about midnight shall be considered the first tour of each working day. Schedules covering a four week period will be posted weeks in advance. Requests for specific days off shall be submitted in writing to the Director of Resident Care two weeks prior to the posting. An employee may be required to work for more than five consecutive tours but not more than six consecutive tours. An employee will have every other weekend off or two weekends off in four unless otherwise mutually agreed. The Employer will continue the present practice with regard to weekend schedules for head nurses wherever possible. Shifts which are available at the time of posting, and after the schedule on their second week of Maintenance would has been posted, will first be available for vacation coverage within offered to the USW Group.
(b) The Salary Grid referenced in the Collective Agreement represents full-time equivalent salaries for a regular 35-hour work weekemployee’s permanent time “partner” assigned to the same shift and unit where the absence has occurred. Employees’ full(applies to Park Retirement Community (Nursing Home) and Cheltenham Nursing Home Shifts which are available, and which are not picked up by the full time employee’s part-time equivalent salary partner will be adjusted proportionately offered to reflect a regular part-time and casual employees on an equitable rotational basis. HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. The following scheduling provisions shall apply to all employees working twelve (a12) Employees are shifts. The parties hereby and agree that the employees listed in Schedule attached hereto, shall be afforded the opportunity to be placed on a master schedule provided that they to the Employer a listing of ten (10) days in a pay period that they are available to be scheduled. Two (2) of those ten (I 0) days be a consecutive Saturday and a Sunday. The Employer will use the individual employees’ stated availability to develop a master schedule whereby the employee will receive seven (7) regularly scheduled shifts per pay period. The parties hereby acknowledge and agree that full time employees working six (6) shifts or less per pay period and staff hired post ratification of this collective agreement shall maintain their regular number of scheduled shifts per pay period (if such regularity exists) but may have the option of working up to seven (7) shifts per pay period depending up on the Employer’s need. Employees will be canvassed on a monthly basis as to their availability for the additional shifts. These additional shifts shall be scheduled by seniority based on the employee’s stated monthly availability. HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. Work and squad assignments shall be at the discretion of the Warden. His decision shall not be grievable. The Employer shall post an annual schedule for each employee designating squad and shift assignments and days off. Once the schedule is posted, the Employer has the right, due to scheduling needs (aincluding Officers’ vacation schedules) or due to unanticipated circumstances, including but not limited to employee performance necessary to maintain operational effectiveness, or to accommodate employee requests for single day vacations, to reassign personnel to other shifts to deal with the circumstances. Employees are paid based on a 40-hour work week but normally work fourteen 12-hour shall not have their shifts over a 4-week period; employees are normally scheduled for either three 12-hour shifts changed in an arbitrary or four 12-hour shifts in a week. At least 2 employees are normally scheduled on 8- hour maintenance shiftscapricious manner. The County and the Union agree that, by mutual consent at the time of the request, negotiations can be re-opened during the duration of this contract for the purposes of negotiating a modified shift schedule. When personnel changes in the work unit provide opportunities for shift or schedule changes, interested employees may apply for those assignments which they desire. Employees may also request reassignment at any time. However, personnel assignments shall be made at the discretion of the Warden, whose decision is neither grievable or arbitrable. HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. (a) Employees are paid based on 16.01 Nothing in the following provisions or in this collective agreement shall be construed as a 40-hour guarantee of the hours of work to be performed per day or per week but normally or of the number of shifts of work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-per week or any other time period; employees are normally scheduled for either three 12-hour shifts or four 12-hour shifts in a week. (b) 16.02 The Salary Grid referenced in the Collective Agreement represents normal hours of work for a full-time equivalent salaries employee shall be seven and one-half (7 ½) hours per day, not including a one-half hour unpaid meal period, and seventy five (75) hours per bi-weekly period, exclusive of unpaid meal periods. Shifts of shorter duration may be scheduled. The meal period will be scheduled within the first 5 1/2 hours of the shift.
16.03 Employees required for reporting purposes shall report to their work station five (5) minutes prior to the commencement of their shift, which period shall be unpaid.
16.04 The Employer will schedule a regular 35-hour work week. Employees’ full-time equivalent salary employee off, on average, four days in the bi-weekly period. The Employer will schedule full-time employees off every second weekend, unless the employee consents or requests to be scheduled to work additional weekends. The Employer will endeavour to schedule part-time employees off at least one weekend off in two but will assure part-time employees are scheduled off one weekend in three (3), unless the employee consents or requests to be scheduled to work additional weekends.
16.05 An employee will be adjusted proportionately permitted a paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours they are required to reflect a regular work week of 40 hourswork, to be taken at time(s) designated by the Employer.
16.06 Meal periods will be uninterrupted, except in cases of emergency. If due to an unforeseen circumstance, an employee is required to work through all or part of his/her meal period, that portion of the meal period that was interrupted shall be rescheduled as soon as practical thereafter.
16.07 It shall be the responsibility of the Food Services Manager or his/her designate to construct posted work schedules, including the days and shifts of work for an employee, the starting and quitting times each day, and the timing of lunch and rest periods.
16.08 Schedules of a four (c4) Effective week duration will be posted seven (7) days in advance.
16.09 It shall be the date responsibility of ratification by both parties the employee to consult the posted work schedule.
a) It is understood that in the normal course, once the work schedule is a 6-week rotation of: • Seven 12-hour night posted, the Employer shall not change the posted days and shifts over 2 weeks; • Seven 12-hour day of work and days off of an employee without one week’s notice to the employee of the change in the schedule. The Employer may change an employee’s days and shifts over 2 weeks; of work and • Ten 8-hour day shifts on maintenance over 2 weeksdays off with less than one week’s notice with the consent of the employee, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld by the employee.
(db) It is understood that the normal notification requirements in a) do not apply in circumstances of layoff, or in extenuating circumstances where the change in the posted schedule is necessary for the fulfillment of the Employer’s staffing requirements. In such cases, changes to the posted work schedule above is based on 6 required by the Employer shall be brought to the attention of the employees normally working in the rotationas soon as possible.
c) It is further understood that a) does not apply where the change in an employee’s posted schedule arises due to another employee returning from a leave of absence with short notice, as herein provided. It is understood that employees returning earlier than anticipated from a leave of absence other than illness or WSIB leaves are to provide at least two (e2) weeks notice prior to returning. Employees who work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period earn 8 hours of lieu time returning from illness leave or WSIB are to notify the Employer by no later than noon (“Earned Day Off”12 pm) in on the day prior to the day that period, which will be taken during the employee is seeking to return. Where the employee provides the minimum notice and the Employer has already replaced the employee’s next shifts beyond the notice period, the shifts of the replacement employees will be cancelled. Such cancellation will not be a violation of the collective agreement and the Employer will not be liable to the replacement employees for compensation for the cancelled shifts. If an employee provides less than the required minimum notice, as applicable, and replacements have already been scheduled maintenance weekfor the shifts falling within the required 2 week notice period (or, normally on for WSIB or illness, the first day notice period provided for above), the shifts of that weekthe replacements will not be cancelled, and the returning employee will not be scheduled for those shifts. The Employer will not be liable for compensation to the returning employee for the said shifts.
(f16.10 The Employer will not schedule full-time employees to work split shifts.
16.11 a) When operational requirements deem it necessary Employees will be allowed to designate a temporary shift change trade, that is mutually exchange shifts, with another employee of their own classification, with the prior approval of the Food Service Manager or designate. Such request will last 1 month or lessbe in writing, dated, signed, and co-signed by the employee whose shift schedule is willing to be changed shall be given 5 days’ notice of the change in shift. Failure to give the required 5 days’ notice of the change in shift shall result in payment exchange shifts, and submitted for approval at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the employee at 1.5 times exchange unless such notice is not possible, in which case the employees will submit their regular hourly rate for the first full shift so affected.
(g) Due to the requirements of the job, it request with as much advance notice as is understood that the eating period for employees possible. Such approval shall be a paid period of time. During all break times employees are required to remain in the control room and be available for emergency work. Break times cannot be accumulated and taken as time offunreasonably withheld.
(h) It is understood and agreed that the work of employees is not operationally suitable for Flexible Hours of Work arrangements, as set out in Article 20.08 of the Collective Agreement.

HOURS OF WORK AND SCHEDULING. (a) Employees are paid based on a 40-hour work week but normally work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period; employees are normally scheduled for either three 12-hour shifts or four 12-hour shifts in a week. At least 2 employees are normally scheduled on 8- 8-hour maintenance shifts. The employee schedule on their her/his second week of Maintenance would be available for vacation coverage within the USW Group.
(b) The Salary Grid referenced in the Collective Agreement represents full-time equivalent salaries for a regular 35-hour work week. Employees’ full-time equivalent salary will be adjusted proportionately to reflect a regular work week of 40 hours.
(c) Effective the date of ratification by both parties the normal work schedule is a 6-week rotation of: • Seven •Seven 12-hour night shifts over 2 weeks; • Seven •Seven 12-hour day shifts over 2 weeks; and • Ten •Ten 8-hour day shifts on maintenance over 2 weeks
(d) It is understood that the normal work schedule above is based on 6 employees normally working in the rotation.
(e) Employees who work fourteen 12-hour shifts over a 4-week period earn 8 hours of lieu time (“Earned Day Off”) in that period, which will be taken during the employee’s next scheduled maintenance week, normally on the first day of that week.
