Informal Grievance Disposition. Initially, the employee having a grievance shall personally discuss the complaint with the immediate supervisor informally. At this step, it is the responsibility of the employee to inform the supervisor that he/she is initiating the grievance process. Within four (4) calendar days, the supervisor, after conferring with the Battalion Chief (Division Chief if the grievant is a Captain) shall give the decision to the employee orally.
Informal Grievance Disposition. Initially, the employee having a grievance shall personally discuss the complaint with the immediate supervisor informally. Within four (4) calendar days, the supervisor shall give the decision to the employee orally. If the supervisor fails to reply within this period or issues a decision which is unsatisfactory to the employee, the employee within seven (7) calendar days, shall then discuss the grievance with the Fire Chief Within four (4) calendar days, the Fire Chief shall give the decision to the employee orally. If the Fire Chief fails to reply within this period or issues a decision, which is unsatisfactory to the employee, the employee may proceed to the formal grievance procedure.
Informal Grievance Disposition. Within 20 days from the occurrence of the issue that gave rise to the complaint, or within 20 days from the employee's knowledge of the occurrence (but no later than 1 year from the date of occurrence), an employee will promptly and informally meet to discuss the complaint with his/her/their immediate supervisor. In those circumstances where the nature of the complaint involves the immediate supervisor, the employee may informally discuss the complaint with the next higher level of supervision, provided prior notification is given the immediate supervisor by the employee. Such initial discussion shall precede the use of the formal grievance procedure. If the supervisor fails to reply to the employee within 5 days of the meeting, or if the employee is not satisfied with the decision, the employee may utilize the formal grievance procedure.

  • Informal Grievance Procedure Employees are encouraged to act promptly to attempt to resolve disputes with their manager/supervisor through an informal procedure. A meeting between the manager/supervisor and the employee should take place whenever requested by either party to assist, to clarify or resolve the grievance. The employee may be accompanied by his/her Union representative at the informal meeting. Any resolution reached at the informal step must be in accordance with the provisions of this agreement, or other rule or ordinance and shall not set precedent.

  • Group Grievance Where a number of employees have identical grievances and each employee would be entitled to grieve separately they may present a group grievance in writing signed by each employee who is grieving to the Administrator or her designate within ten (10) days after the circumstances giving rise to the grievance have occurred or ought reasonably to have come to the attention of the employee(s). The grievance shall then be treated as being initiated at Step No. 1 and the applicable provisions of this Article shall then apply with respect to the processing of such grievance.
