Insurance Extension. Any employee eligible for sick leave and annual leave benefits, who is unable to resume the duties of his or her employment by the City because of proven illness or injury, shall for a period of six (6) months after exhaustion of said leave and annual leave benefits, continue to be provided the City contribution toward group insurance benefits. The employee will be required to provide a check for his/her portion of the cost by no later than the first of each month. If the check is not received, the insurance will be dropped and the employee will have access to COBRA coverage.

Insurance Extension. Any employee eligible for PTO/CAT benefits, who is unable to resume the duties of his or her employment by the County because of proven illness or injury, shall for a period of six (6) months after exhaustion of said leave and annual leave benefits, continue to be provided the County contribution toward group insurance benefits. The employee must pay their portion of the premiums in accordance with procedures established by the County Auditor and Human Resources. Employees can only utilize this benefit once; it is typically granted when an employee is not expected to return to work due to a medical condition.
