Maintenance Allowance. (A) In the first regular check following the first pay period of each year, an employee who customarily wears a uniform while working shall receive a maintenance allowance of $800.00 each calendar year, except that recruits who have not completed twelve (12) months employment by a given January 1st shall be paid a pro-rated uniform maintenance allowance. This amount shall be increased to $850.00 for the payments due in January 2009 and January 2010. (B) In the first regular check following the first pay period of each year, any employee who is regularly required by the Fire Chief to wear plainclothes while working shall receive a plainclothes maintenance allowance of (C) In determining who is eligible to receive the allowance in (A) or (B) above, the amount shall be decided by what assignment the employee is in as of January 1 of each year.
