The Missed Connection clause defines the rights and obligations of parties when a scheduled connection, such as a flight or train, is not made as planned. Typically, this clause outlines what happens if a traveler fails to make a connecting segment due to delays or cancellations, specifying whether the carrier must provide alternative arrangements, refunds, or compensation. Its core practical function is to allocate responsibility and provide clear remedies in the event of missed connections, thereby reducing uncertainty and disputes for both service providers and customers.
Missed Connection. In the event that the Insured Person fails to board the Public Common Carrier due to missed transportation connection on which the Insured Person had obtained a confirmed reservation, as a direct result of strike, industrial action, riot, civil commotion, hijack, Terrorism, adverse weather, natural disaster, mechanical &/or electrical breakdown of public common carrier, or airport closure, the Company will, subject to the Terms of this Policy, reimburse expenses reasonably incurred for accommodation and meals, if it is not provided or compensated by the Public Common Carrier or any third party. The failure to board the Public Common Carrier due to the missed connection must be verified in writing by the Public Common Carrier.
Missed Connection. We will reimburse up to the Sum Insured as mentioned in the Policy Schedule, for extra accommodation and travel costs the Insured will incur to reach the next destination shown on his/her ticket/itinerary, if an Insured Person fails to access the connecting flight/connecting journey through Common Carrier/ Public Carrier any time during the Trip within the Period of Insurance, arising out of and consequent upon the delayed arrival of the earlier flight/Common Carrier/ Public Carrier caused by reasons beyond the control of the Insured, provided that, no claim shall be payable hereunder incase such delay is foreseen by the Insured or that the Insured could have reasonably become aware of such delay in advance. The delayed arrival should solely be arising out of and consequent upon any of the contingencies specified hereunder:
a) Delay of the Scheduled Common Carrier/ Public Carrier due to Inclement weather at the port of origin or the port of destination
b) Delay of Common Carrier/ Public Carrier due to sudden strike or any other action of the employees of the Common Carrier/ Public Carrier which disrupts services
c) Delay of the Common Carrier/ Public Carrier caused by equipment failure or clearances of the Common Carrier.
d) Delay of the Common Carrier/ Public Carrier caused by operational problems like crew or staff scheduling issues etc.
e) Delay of the Common Carrier/ Public Carrier due to a Major Travel Event, Civil Unrest, Riots or Commotion at the port of departure or the port of destination.
f) Cancellation or rescheduling of the flight at the instance of Common Carrier/ Public Carrier that causes delay • We will cover only one such instance for single trip policies and maximum of three instances for multi trip policies • Any compensation which the common carrier is liable to pay will be deducted from claim amount payable under this cover • We will cover extra accommodation and travel costs for the same class as originally planned. • There should be minimum of 6 hours gap between scheduled arrival of incoming common carrier and scheduled departure of connection common carrier. • The Common Carrier must certify the delay of the regularly scheduled airline flight corresponding to the Travel Ticket. • In the event that 2.3 Trip Delay and 2.7 Missed Connection are both caused together, the higher of the two benefits shall become payable. Missed Connection. If a delay occurs during a rotation you will be reassigned in order to bring you back to your original rotation and if it’s not possible, the reassignment has to respect the original number of days. In the event of a force majeure, the CSO is authorized to bring back the Cabin Attendant to his home base no later than the day after the last day of his initial pairing.
Missed Connection. We will pay the cost of additional travel and accommodation expenses incurred or a fixed amount, as specified in the Policy Schedule/Certificate of Insurance due to the Insured Person’s failure to reach the original departure point of the booked and confirmed journey owing to a delay beyond the number of hours specified in the Policy Schedule / Certificate of Insurance in the arrival of the Common Carrier which was connecting to the booked journey onwards. We shall not be liable to pay any expenses under this Benefit for:
a. Any loss which will be paid or refunded by the Common Carrier, hotel, agent or any other provider of travel and/or accommodation.
b. Any such delay caused due to, arising out of or in consequence of any acts or omissions of the Insured Person.
Missed Connection. In the event of an Insured Person failing to board any Common Carrier onwards to an Intended Destination due to a delay or cancellation of a prior connecting Common Carrier, including any change of route, non-landing / docking, or offloading of passengers due to overbooking, and provided that any such delay or cancellation is not caused due to, arising out of or in consequence of any acts or omissions of the Insured Person, the Company shall reimburse up to the opted percentage and limit of the following expenses and subject to the limit of Sum Insured specified against this Benefit in the Policy Certificate:
a. Reasonable expenses towards alternate travel bookings made up to such Intended Destination as may be absolutely necessary by any other Common Carrier.
b. Reasonable and necessary costs of upgradation of travel booking to a superior class in the same form of Common Carrier.
c. Necessary expenses incurred towards Reasonable Additional Expenses.
d. Reasonable and necessary costs of upgradation of accommodation arrangements provided in cases where only partial services are provided by the concerned travel provider.
e. Any expenses incurred towards bookings made for any missed Event, including any sightseeing or entertainment programmes, sports matches and any organized games. For the purpose of this Benefit, “Event” means any official sporting occasion, music concert, exhibition, educational /cultural tour, cinema, theatre, theme park or military display, or a visit to any other tourist attraction where admission or expand in any manner, what the Company's liability or obligations under this Policy would have otherwise been had it not exercised its rights under this condition. We will pay the amount subject to the deductible ( wherever applicable ) as specified in the Schedule if the Common Carrier on which the Insured travelling or scheduled to travel from India prior to commencement of the Period of Insurance is delayed or cancelled due to Inclement Weather for a period exceeding 12 consecutive hours which results in the Insured missing the connecting Common Carrier on which the Insured is scheduled to travel during the Period of Insurance, provided that the Common Carrier certifies the period of the delay and the reason for the delay in writing. This Benefit shall be available if the Ruby I/II, Emerald I/II, Sapphire I/II, Diamond I/II Plans are in force for the Insured. In addition to General Exclusions, We shall not be liable to make any payment under this Section B.5. directly or indirectly for, caused by, based upon, arising out of or howsoever attributable to any delay which was made public or known to the Insured prior to the commencement of the Period of Insurance or for any departure which is delayed as a result of the Insured or any other person who has arranged to travel with failing to check in correctly as required by the Common Carrier.
