Nutrient Management. Lessee shall develop and follow a nutrient management plan to meet Natural Resources Conservation Service Standard 590 for all fertilizer applications on the cropland. The lessee shall attend a Nutrient Management Farmer Education (NMFE) class within the first year of the lease commencement date. This class will provide the lessee with a basic understanding of nutrient management plan development and implementation. The plan shall be approved by the Sauk County Land Resources and Environment Department prior to any commercial fertilizer applications. Manure and industrial and/or municipal waste applications are not allowed on the premises.
Nutrient Management. The maintenance of appropriate soil pH and nutrient levels, according to the recommendations in the University of Illinois Agronomy Handbook, is the responsibility of the Licensee. No fall application of nitrogen is allowed. The use of bio solids is strictly prohibited on District land. Application of manure may only be applied with written authorization from the District. If Licensee performs soil testing, results shall be submitted to the District. The District shall perform soil health tests for chemical, biological, and physical properties according to a rotational schedule, and submit to the Licensee. Soil testing fee of $3.50 per acre shall be added to the annual license fee. The use of bio solids is strictly prohibited on District land. Nutrient Management. The Lessee shall provide a written Nutrient Management Plan/Cropping Plan consistent with WI NRCS 590 and county requirements for every production year detailing the crops to be planted, and describing the chemicals, fertilizer and other materials to be applied to the Premises. A Plan covering the basic requirements of WI NRCS 590 shall be provided on or before May 15, 20242 to the Shawano County Land Conservation Department. Thereafter, the written Plan must be updated annually and be submitted to the Shawano County Land Conservation Department for approval on or before April 4th. Shawano County has the absolute right to determine whether the type of crop, chemicals, fertilizer and other materials intended to be used are acceptable.
Nutrient Management. All manure and other nutrients mechanically applied to croplands must be done in conformance with a Nutrient Management Plan (NMP) (NRCS Conservation Practice Standard 590) designed to minimize surface and groundwater pollution. An updated Nutrient Management Checklist will be submitted to the Land Resources Division by April 1 annually to reflect the subsequent year’s NMP. ▪ Clean water diversion. Clean water runoff shall be diverted away from contacting feedlots, manure storage facilities and barnyards in Water Quality Management Areas (WQMA means the area with 1000 feet of a lake or 300 feet from a river, or areas susceptible to groundwater contamination). ▪ Manure storage. All new or substantially altered manure storage facilities must meet current NRCS engineering design standards to prevent surface or groundwater pollution.
