Outside Training Clause Samples

The Outside Training clause governs an employee's participation in training, educational programs, or professional development activities that are not organized or provided by the employer. Typically, this clause outlines the conditions under which employees may attend external courses, such as requiring prior approval from management or specifying whether time spent and related expenses will be compensated or reimbursed. Its core function is to clarify the employer's expectations and obligations regarding outside training, ensuring that such activities do not conflict with work responsibilities or company policies.
Outside Training. Employees who attend a training of forty (40) hours or more shall be reassigned to administration. For training of less than (40) hours, officers shall trade hour for hour shift time for training time.
Outside Training. Section 26.1: If the Employer requests or requires an employee to attend an outside training program during regular working hours, the employee shall be paid his/her regular salary, and the Employer shall pay the tuition and any related course fees. The Employer will also pay reasonable lodging expenses when pre-approved by General Manager. When private transportation is used the employee will be reimbursed for actual mileage at the current New Mexico statute allowable rate. The Employer shall pay for three attempts for job-related tuition, course fees, and travel and lodging. In the event the employee cannot successfully pass the course in three attempts, the employee is then responsible for the costs associated with that training. When the training is conducted at times other than normal working hours, the employee will be excused from work for the time spent in class. If the employee is required to work in addition to the time spent at training, the employee will be paid at 1-1/2 times straight time wages for the additional hours in excess of forty (40) hours or optional compensatory time may be taken.
Outside Training. The parties recognize that employees are responsible for applying reasonable effort, time, and initiative in increasing their potential value to the Department through self-development and training. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of training and educational opportunities available and needed to increase their efficiency in the performance of their duties and for possible advancement in the Department. Management may consider providing outside training to employees upon request. Funds for this purpose must be requested, approved, and obligated before the training begins.
Outside Training. Opportunities for training outside UWP, when available, will be announced by posting notices of general interest training opportunities and circulating notices of position-specific training opportunities. Staff members may also learn of some possibilities on their own initiative. The Director of Human Resources or Executive Director, upon the recommendation of the immediate manager involved, shall reimburse employees for fees and other expenses incurred for approved outside training including tuition reimbursement for community college or university classes which are job-related. Such fees and expenses may include tuition, books and equipment. If an employee disagrees with the recommendation of their manager, they may appeal to the Director of Human Resources or the Executive Director. Decisions to grant or deny outside training will not be subject to the grievance and/or arbitration provisions of this Agreement.
