Overtime Assignment - Nepotism. For voluntary and involuntary overtime assignments, employer shall follow all provisions as it pertains to the assignment of overtime as set forth in Section 10.3 below. All employees shall have the opportunity to volunteer for overtime and be subject to assignment to involuntary overtime, except as follows: (a) In the event an employee’s voluntary or involuntary overtime assignment is on a shift where the employee has a spouse or an immediate family member assigned as a direct supervisor or in that shift’s chain of command, the employee shall be assigned the overtime only if there is another supervisor on duty. (b) The supervisory spouse or immediate family member shall not have any involvement with employee as it applies to shift assignment, disciplinary action, and/or performance evaluation. (c) In minor emergency situations (e.g., fights, failure to lockdown, etc.) the supervisory spouse or immediate family member shall be removed from the situation except in the case the event escalates to a threat to life or escape attempt.
