Protection and Control Clause Samples

Protection and Control. 1.3.1. The protection systems, which protects transmission system elements, shall be capable of minimizing the severity and extent of disturbances to the transmission system while themselves experiencing a first-order single contingency such as the failure of a relay protection system to operate or the failure of a breaker to trip. In particular: 1.3.1.1. the elements designated by the Transmitter as essential to system reliability and security shall be protected by two protection systems. Each system shall be independently capable of detecting and isolating all faults on those elements. These elements shall have breaker failure protection, but breaker failure protection need not be duplicated. Both protection systems shall initiate breaker failure protection; 1.3.1.2. to reduce the risk of both systems being disabled simultaneously by a single contingency, the protection system designs shall not use components common to the two systems; 1.3.1.3. the use of two identical protection systems is not generally, recommended, because it increases the risk of simultaneous failure of both systems due to design deficiencies or equipment problems; 1.3.1.4. the protection systems shall be designed to isolate only the faulted element. For faults outside the protected zone, each protection system shall be designed either not to operate or to operate selectively in coordination with other protection systems; 1.3.1.5. Customer protection settings for protections affected by conditions on the transmission system shall be coordinated with those of the transmission system; 1.3.1.6. protection systems shall not operate to trip for stable power swings following contingencies that are judged by protection system designers as not harmful to the transmission system or its Customers; 1.3.1.7. the components and software used in all protection systems shall be of proven quality for effective utility application and following good utility practice; 1.3.1.8. critical features associated with the operability of protection systems and the high voltage interrupting device (HVI) shall be annunciated or monitored; 1.3.1.9. the design of protection systems shall facilitate periodic testing and maintenance. Test facilities and procedures shall not compromise the independence of the redundant protection systems. Test switches shall be used to eliminate the need to disconnect wires during testing; 1.3.1.10. the two protection systems shall be supplied from separate secondary windings on one ...
Protection and Control. (a) The Generator must utilise electrical protection and control systems to ensure the safety and integrity of the distribution system is not in any way compromised by the operation of the generating plant. (b) The Generator must employ electrical protection and control systems as a means of disconnecting the generating plant rapidly and automatically, in the event of: (i) a fault on the generating plant; (ii) a short circuit fault on the distribution system; (iii) a distribution system abnormality resulting in voltage or frequency outside normal operating limits at the connection point; or (iv) an interruption on the distribution system. (c) The Generator must incorporate redundant schemes into the protection system to ensure that: (i) faults are detected and automatically isolated; and (ii) the generating plant is disconnected from the distribution system in the event that a single element of the protection system has failed unless the failure meets an exception (if any) listed in Schedule 3. (d) The Generator must disconnect by opening a circuit breaker (or multiple circuit breakers) to provide a physical electrical break between the generating plant and the distribution system and: (i) the circuit breaker can either be a generator circuit breaker or the main service protection circuit breaker; and (ii) three phase generators must isolate all three phases regardless of fault type. (e) The Generator must not use automatic reclose for any fault types. (f) The Generator must ensure the generating plant protection and control systems coordinate with the distribution system protection and control systems to ensure adequate grading between the respective systems at all times unless an exception (if any) listed in Schedule 3 applies. (g) The Generator is responsible for the design, installation, setting and commissioning of all generating plant protection and control equipment. The Generator must identify all plausible fault scenarios and document, design, and implement, protection and control systems that will disconnect the generating plant from the distribution system for each of these fault scenarios. (h) The Generator must ensure that the generating plant protection and control systems comply with the document “Embedded Generator Network Access Standards – Document No UE ST 2008” (which is published on UE’s website). (i) The Generator must ensure the generating plant protection and control systems: (i) detect various faults as prescribed in the document “...

  • PROTECTION OF TEACHERS A. The Board recognizes its responsibility to continue to give administrative backing and support to its teachers, although each teacher bears the primary responsibility for maintaining proper control and discipline in his/her classroom. The teachers recognize that all disciplinary actions and methods invoked by them shall be reasonable and just. The Board further recognizes that teachers cannot maintain the proper classroom atmosphere when, and if, they are charged with the responsibility of serving as custodians for persistently and/or excessively disruptive students. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to report immediately to his principal the name of any student who, in the opinion of the teacher, needs particular assistance from skilled personnel. The teacher shall, upon request, be advised by the principal of the disposition of the teacher's report that a particular student needs such assistance. B. If criminal or civil proceedings are brought against a teacher arising out of disciplinary action taken by a teacher against a student, the Board, upon request, will provide initial legal counsel to advise the teacher of his/her rights. The Association, after review of the facts of the case, may request the Board to furnish legal counsel to defend the teacher in such proceedings. If the request is denied, a three member committee consisting of a member of the LEA, a member of the Administration, and a member of the Board will review for a final decision on providing counsel. C. Time lost by a teacher in connection with any incident involving assault by a student shall not be charged against the teacher. D. The Board will reimburse employees for any loss, damage or destruction of clothing or glasses of the employee while fulfilling professional duties and assignments. Vehicle reimbursement will be provided subject to these conditions: 1) the vehicle must have been parked in a designated teacher parking area; 2) the damage must have occurred during regular school hours; 3) a police report must be filed; 4) the damage must be judged by the police to have been vandalism rather than the result of an accident; 5) if the guilty parties are tentatively identified the teacher must assist in the prosecution or discipline of the parties; 6) the maximum reimbursement shall be one hundred dollars ($100). The Board and Association agree that there shall be no duplication of benefits and such reimbursement will be determined after the employees personal insurance coverage benefits, if any, are deducted from the amount of the claim. This will not include theft. The Board reserves the right to fully investigate with the cooperation of the teacher, the circumstances surrounding such a claim for the purpose of determining whether students or other individuals may be held liable for any such damage. E. Except in life threatening or emergency situations no teacher shall be expected to perform medical or hygiene procedures for students such as, but not limited to, suctioning, catherization, toileting, diapering, or attending to any personal hygiene or medical needs of students. The Board will endeavor to provide ongoing medical and hygiene procedures for students utilizing staff other than classroom teachers. If extenuating circumstances arise in specific situations, the administration may meet with the teacher and an LEA representative to discuss problems and how they will be solved. Any solutions must be mutually agreeable before enacted. The section is not intended to limit or alter the responsibility of teachers specialized areas such as physical education and athletics. A.
