Purpose of Study. The goal of this clinical research study is to assess the safety of mature, autologous dendritic cells (DC) combined with recombinant human prostate specific membrane antigen (rPSMA) to treat patients with metastatic, hormone refractory prostate cancer. Another goal is to monitor the immune response.
Purpose of Study. FT In this data request, we seek access to de-identified student-level data (see
Purpose of Study. The overall objective of the project SCORCH is to reduce the health impact of heat waves on vulnerable, urban populations through improved risk communication strategies. These strategies will be informed by existing EU plans and guidelines, and by surveys on the risk perception and behavior of urban populations in EU neighborhood. In addition, we will ▇▇▇▇▇▇ a culture of prevention and cooperation across countries. We are interested in your expertise on risk communication structures in Israel in general and your recommendations for heat wave risk communication in your country in the future.
Purpose of Study. The purpose of the study is to explore the symptom experience and symptom self- management practices of low-income African American adults with advanced cancer. A qualitative descriptive approach was used. This study provides information on a specific and understudied population–who face significant health disparities. The information gained from this study provides the groundwork for a larger research program to develop and test culturally sensitive interventions to improve symptom self-management strategies and outcomes among African American men and women. Because the symptom experience and symptom self-management practices of low-income African Americans with advanced cancer have been largely unexplored, qualitative methods are most appropriate. The specific aims and associated research questions for this study are as follows:
Purpose of Study. The purpose of this geotechnical work is to explore the subsurface conditions at the site based upon the proposed new plant site layout, and based on our characterization of the obtained data, to prepare a geotechnical engineering report presenting comments and recommendations to assist you and your design team in planning and construction of the project.
Purpose of Study. The purpose of this trial is to assess the potential use of an accelerometer, or activity monitor, as a means to detect seizure activity in dogs with epilepsy. The total duration of participation will be 6 months. During this time, your dog will wear a collar mounted activity monitor. You will be required to visit the veterinary hospital on 3 occasions during the study.
Purpose of Study. Early cessation of breastfeeding is far too common. As a pivotal time frame to create lasting change, newborns and infants between 0-5 months of age will be the focus of this thesis. Though programmatic efforts are in place to improve child nutrition, progress has been drastically slow despite the urgency of the issue. This study will provide insights that will help inform CARE on the current practices and challenges related to breastfeeding practices among 0-5 month infants. While there is global evidence of impact in improving infant and young child nutrition, evidence for improving breastfeeding practices is lacking across India, and more specifically, in Bihar. There is a dire need for more comprehensive, formative research to examine the state of breastfeeding practices and reduce the childhood burden of malnutrition. The current state of nutrition and IYCF practices in Bihar, India, proves that it is essential to identify the barriers, gaps and determinants of successful practices to improve CARE programming and future implementation of interventions.
Purpose of Study. The goal of this paper is to explore dietary diversity, DD, on the household and child level in Bihar, India. Understanding DD on a household level predicts the level of food access and nutrients consumed by the family. The child level examines the quantity of nutrients given to the child and the beliefs of the caregivers in terms of what should be fed to a child. Knowledge of the DDS on the HH level can assist in informing stakeholders on the nutrients consumed and not consumed in their communities, level to which certain foods are available in their communities, and lead to knowing where the prevalence of the most and least food diversity exists. On the child level, it could lead to implications on the content needed to be taught to mothers. Additionally, making a comparison between the child dietary diversity and household dietary diversity can lead to understanding the effects of HDD on CDD. Making these determinations could give way to creating focused and effective nutrition interventions that reduce nutrient deficiencies and potentially increase regional human development. In India, there has been extensive research on food security related issues. Food security at the national level is continually monitored by international organizations, i.e. the International Food and Nutrition Policy Research Institute. [16] Household food security has also been explored. [6] However, there has been limited research on the food access portion of food security and its relationship to child dietary diversity and complementary food practices in Bihar. Studies have been conducted exploring individual nutritional status and the household food security. [1, 29] Yet, little has been done to explore the similarities and differences consumption patterns of two different entities within the same household in Bihar, India. This paper aims to fulfill this gap through analyzing food intake of households and child 6-18 months; comparing and contrasting and examining the determinants of dietary diversity.
Purpose of Study. The goal of this thesis is to expand on the data that was collected by COTN to understand whether WASH practices and socioeconomic factors contribute to diarrheal disease in school- aged children in five villages in the Moyamba District of Sierra Leone. This objective will be achieved through five specific aims, which address the goal by examining household survey data related to WASH practices and socioeconomic factors.
Purpose of Study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between sources of support and breastfeeding outcomes among African Americans using an SEM framework. Multiple studies have explored aspects of breastfeeding support among African Americans (▇▇▇ et al., 2017; Reno, 2017; ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, 2017; ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, and Domain, 2015). Yet, these disparate studies often examine breastfeeding support at only one level of influence. Additionally, researchers often explore support from partner, family, and friends, but fewer studies have systematically explored other sources of support from the healthcare system, workplace, social media, and policies. With sources of support being such an important factor in breastfeeding among African Americans, it is important to synthesize all sources. A comprehensive review and synthesis of existing literature that studies the relationship between sources of support and breastfeeding intention, initiation, and duration among African Americans can further aid public health professionals in understanding and impacting this relationship. For the purpose of this study, breastfeeding outcomes are defined as follows: Breastfeeding intention: The intention of a woman to breastfeed her child either during the prenatal period or before becoming pregnant. Breastfeeding initiation: a woman breastfed or fed her infant expressed breastmilk, even once (▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ S and Rasmussen K., 2010). Breastfeeding duration: the length of time for any breastfeeding, including through the initial stage of exclusive breastfeeding and any period of complementary feeding until weaning (▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, and ▇▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇▇, 2012).
