Redundancy Selection. The Company may elect to seek volunteers for redundancy or may select employees to be made redundant on the last-on-first-off principle should all things be equal. Any inequalities will be discussed with the relevant employees. The elimination of particular jobs via the multi-skilling process does not, in itself, mean that the employee engaged in that job is to be made redundant. It is the aim of the Company to increase the skills levels of all employees and the Company retains the right to maintain skills within the workforce at a level necessary to support the needs of the Company.
Redundancy Selection. (a) The employer shall consult the signatory trades unions on its proposed selection pool(s) and selection criteria as part of any collective consultation arrangements under NAECI 16.3(a). (b) The first consideration will be the need to maintain a balanced and productive workforce composed of employees whom management considers have the skills and experience most appropriate to the company's needs. (c) Selection shall be based on the particular contract where employees included in a selection pool are currently employed, except where the written offer of employment, contract of employment and/or statutory statement of employment particulars issued by the employer either: (i) Expressly provides that an employee is employed specifically on a transferable basis operating across a number of contracts in a defined area. In such cases, that area shall be regarded as the 'contract' for the above purposes; or (ii) Expressly sets out a specifically defined alternative to selection on a contract basis (including an unambiguous statement explicitly excluding selection on a contract basis under either (c) or (c)(i) above). (d) A particular selection criterion may not be used if, either generally or in the specific circumstances where its application is being proposed, it contravenes the requirements of United Kingdom employment, labour relations or discrimination law. (e) Length of service with the employer may form part of the redundancy selection process where it is lawful to do so - for example: (i) Where the short-term nature of employment makes it genuinely impracticable for an employer to establish an alternative basis for differentiating between individuals; or (ii) To differentiate between 2 individuals who are awarded equal scores under an objective selection matrix operated in accordance with (f) below. (f) Where an employer is proposing to base selection for redundancy on the performance of individual employees against a matrix of factors, it should take reasonable steps to demonstrate during consultation that: (i) The selection criteria and scoring systems set out in the matrix are objective and/or verifiable. Redundancy Selection. In the first instance, the employer will ask for volunteers for redundancy. If the number of volunteers exceeds the number of redundancies nominated, then the employer shall choose. Should there be no volunteers, then the employer shall choose the employee whom is to be made redundant. The employer may use criteria such as, but not limited too, Career Ambition, Composure, Creativity, Customer Focus, Ethics and Values, Functional/ technical Skills, Integrity and Trust, Perseverance, Problem Solving, Work/ Life Balance and Planning to aide the selection process in either case.

  • Panel Selection 1. The Parties shall apply the following procedures in selecting a Panel: (a) the Panel shall comprise 3 members; (b) within 15 days following the date of the establishment of the Panel, each Party shall nominate a Panelist; (c) the Parties shall endeavor 2.   • Shift Selection Employee assignments within the Patrol Bureau will occur between approximately April 1-15 and shall be awarded based upon seniority. Approximately three (3) months before then the Department will publish a call for written requests on shift assignment. Employees will make their first three (3) choices known. The new trainee released for duty will take the senior officers shift. If no employee desires the shift, the trainee scheduled for assignment will be assigned that shift. The parties recognize that for the betterment of the Department it may be necessary to assign a trainee to a specific shift. 4. Voluntary shift trades will be allowed as long as overtime costs are not incurred. 5. Except in a bona fide emergency, no employee shall be assigned to work more than sixteen (16) hours in a twenty-four (24) hour period, provided however employees may volunteer to work up to eighteen (18) hours in a twenty-four (24) hour period.
