Common use of REST/MEAL BREAKS Clause in Contracts

REST/MEAL BREAKS. a A rest period of fifteen (15) minutes is permitted for all employees for each four (4) hours worked. All employees are subject to call during such rest periods. Lunch break shall be on the employee’s own time. Where the nature of the work allows employees to take intermittent rest periods equivalent to fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours worked, scheduled rest breaks are not required. Missed rest breaks are not compensable as overtime. Breaks may not be collected or not taken in order to shorten the workday or work week unless pre-approved or assigned by supervisor.
