Common use of Retaining Seniority Clause in Contracts

Retaining Seniority. An employee shall not lose seniority rights if the employee is absent from work because of sickness, disability, accident, layoff or leave of absence approved by the Employer. A bargaining unit employee who receives a full-time permanent position within the Corporation, other than a bargaining unit job classification will retain that bargaining unit seniority in its entirety provided the employee returns to the bargaining unit within a time period equivalent to that seniority which the employee accumulated while in a bargaining unit position.
