Scheduling of Vacation Days a. Vacation days shall be arranged through the Office of the Director of Facilities. Vacation requests must be received a minimum of one (1) week in advance if the request is for more than one (1) day. Requests for one (1) vacation day or one-half (1/2) vacation day must be made a minimum of two (2) days in advance. The Board reserves the right to waive the above advance notice requirement. b. Vacation days will be granted at such times during the year as are suitable to both the Employee’s request(s) and the efficient and effective operation of the department. c. If a conflict arises as a result of more than one vacation request being submitted for the same vacation date(s), vacation days shall be granted according to the date on which the requests were received in the office of the Director of Facilities and Operations with the vacation request received on the earliest date being approved. If requests are received for the same vacation period or same vacation date on the same day, approval will be based on seniority. d. Denial of vacation requests for less than one (1) day is not subject to the grievance procedure. e. Up to five (5) vacation days may be held over and applied to following year's vacation period, provided that the Employee indicates his/her intention to do so to the Director of Facilities. f. Paid vacation days shall not coincide with regular working days, such that an Employee would receive compensation for both at the same time. g. Vacation periods during holidays (see Article XVIII – Holidays). h. “It is mutually agreed that the Employer maintains the right to hire temporary employees.”

Scheduling of Vacation Days. 7.7.1 The annual scheduling of vacation days by seniority, as defined by the Seniority Article, shall be in accordance with established Sheriff’s Office procedures and shall require the scheduling of at least two (2) work weeks of vacation time on a seniority basis. The maximum number of vacations allowed at any time shall be consistent with the Sheriff’s Office’s reasonable operating needs. All requests for vacation shall be submitted in writing to the employee’s branch chief or designee. 7.7.2 All other requests for vacation shall be considered on a first-request-first-granted basis subject to the Sheriff’s Office’s reasonable operating needs. In the case of simultaneous employee requests, seniority, as defined by the Seniority Article, shall prevail. Such requests must be approved by the branch chief or designee as established by Sheriff’s Office procedures. 7.7.3 Employees must notify the Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible in the case of unforeseen illness or emergency and request appropriate leave.

  • Scheduling of Vacation A) The Employer shall permit annual vacations to be taken during the entire year. B) The scheduling of vacations shall be subject to the operational requirements of the Employer. C) The selection of vacation and the posting of the approved vacation schedule shall be completed by December 31st of the preceding calendar year or any other date mutually agreed at the local level. Such local agreements shall be filed with the Union and Employer. D) Once the approved vacation schedule has been posted, it shall only be changed by mutual consent. E) Vacation entitlement accrued to June 30 (inclusive) shall be taken prior to January 1 in the following year unless otherwise required by operational necessity. Despite the above, where an employee’s vacation is cancelled by the Employer due to operational requirements, the employee may elect to carry over up to seven (7) days to be used no later than June 30 in the following year. Unused vacation shall be paid out at straight time rates by the last pay period of February of the following year. Payout shall not include any carryover of vacation pursuant to the above. F) Employees may, prior to the scheduling of vacations, request to have their vacations scheduled in accordance with either the principle of seniority or on a rotating basis. Where a consensus of employees cannot be reached as above, vacations shall be scheduled according to seniority on the basis that the employees with the most seniority shall have the first choice of vacation times. Employees failing to exercise their rights within the vacation selection time posted by the Employer shall forfeit their seniority rights in respect to choice of vacation time. G) Vacation time may be divided and shall be scheduled at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and the Employer, however, an employee who splits her vacation shall not receive her choice of when she wishes to take the subsequent portion of her vacation until all other employees in the unit or ▇▇▇▇ have made their first choice of vacation time.

  • Scheduling of Vacations Vacations shall be scheduled at a time mutually acceptable to the OSFM and the employee and consistent with the work requirements of the OSFM. All vacation leaves require advanced written authorization by the employee's immediate supervisor; however, management may verbally approve short notice requests, subject to submission of written leave request form upon return.

  • Scheduling of Vacation Leave In scheduling vacation leave with pay for an employee the Employer shall, subject to the operational requirements of the service, make every reasonable effort to comply with the employee's wishes.

  • Splitting of Vacation Periods ‌ Annual vacations for employees with ten (10) work days’ vacation or more shall be granted in one (1) continuous period but may, upon request from the employee, be divided, subject to the approval of the Employer, provided that the following shall apply: 1. The Employer’s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld, taking into consideration the operational requirements of the department; and 2. At least one block of vacation shall be at least five (5) days in duration. Employees wishing to split their vacations shall exercise seniority rights in the choice of the first vacation period. Seniority shall prevail in the choice of the second vacation period, but only after all other “first” vacation periods have been approved. Seniority shall also prevail in the choice of each subsequent vacation period, but only after each previous vacation period has been approved. Annual vacations for employees with less than ten (10) work days’ vacation shall be granted in one (1) continuous period.

  • Vacation Days Employee shall be entitled to the same paid vacation days each calendar year during the term of this Employee Agreement as authorized by the Company for its other employees.
