Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave Clause Samples

Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave employees shall be granted bereavement leave with pay, on a per occurrence basis, as follows:

Bereavement Leave. Up to five (5) days leave for the death of a spouse, domestic partner, mother, father, son, 9 daughter, step-son, step-daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparents, a 10 member of the educator’s household, or any family member as defined in RCW 49.46.210 shall 11 be granted.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 39 Each employee shall be entitled to a maximum of five (5) days leave with pay for absence caused by 40 the death of an employee’s child, spouse, parent, step-parent, grandparent, sibling, or like relationships 41 in the family of the employee’s spouse or anyone living in the employee’s household. Bereavement 42 leave shall not be deducted from sick leave.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 14 Up to three (3) days of paid leave shall be granted per occurrence for bereavement of a household 15 member or relative. Such leave is noncumulative and shall not be deducted from sick leave. Written 16 requests for additional paid bereavement leave days must be approved by the superintendent. In the 17 event of death of a significant friend, up to three days may be used and will be deducted from the 18 employee’s sick leave.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 9 Upon employee request, an employee may use up to five (5) days of leave per occurrence for a death in 10 the employee’s immediate family or household. Such leave is without a loss of pay but is not
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. ‌ 31 Up to five (5) days shall be granted with pay for bereavement of a member of the employee’s 32 immediate family per occurrence. Immediate family shall be defined as: parent, parent-in-law, spouse, 33 sibling, or child. Such leave may be taken in increments. This category of bereavement leave is not 34 deductible from sick leave. Bereavement leave is noncumulative. Exception to this provision may be 35 granted by Superintendent action. Requests for an exception should be submitted in writing to the 36 District Office. 37 38 Emergency leave may be used with bereavement leave. Emergency leave, when used with 39 bereavement leave, will be deducted from sick leave.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. Up to five (5) days paid leave for the death of a spouse, mother, father, son, daughter, step-son, 15 step-daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister, brother, grandparents, or a member of the 16 employee’s household shall be granted.

Bereavement Leave. 13 Upon employee request and the express approval of the Superintendent or his/her designee, an 14 employee may use up to three (3) days of paid leave per occurrence each school year for a death in the 15 employee’s immediate family. Such leave is not accumulative and is not deducted from sick leave. 16 An employee’s immediate family includes the employee’s parent(s), sibling(s), grandparent(s), 17 child(ren), spouse, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law. An 18 employee shall be granted one (1) additional day per year to attend the funeral of a close, personal 19 friend. Verification of death/funeral may be requested.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 42 Each employee shall be entitled to five (5) days leave with pay, per occurrence, for absence caused by 43 death or serious illness to an employee's child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, step-child, fetus, spouse, 44 parent, step-parent, grandchild, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, or parent-in-law and all others 45 approved by the Superintendent. Such leave for serious illness shall be deducted from sick leave. At 46 the discretion of the District, sick leave may be used to care for a family member, not specified in this 47 section, who has a serious health condition. Such bereavement leave shall not be deducted from sick 48 leave. Bereavement leave is noncumulative.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 9 Employees shall be granted bereavement leave as follows: Three days will be granted for an absence 10 due to the death of the employee’s spouse, child, step-child, parent, step-parent, grandparent, sibling, 11 step-sibling, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew or for the employee’s spouse’s parent, step-parent, sibling, or 12 step-sibling. In cases where extensive travel is involved, the Superintendent may grant two additional 13 days of bereavement leave. Bereavement leave is noncumulative and shall not be deducted from sick 14 leave. Leave needed to attend the funeral of any other person with close personal ties will be 15 considered under emergency leave.
