Senior position. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience is required for Senior positions. The functional responsibility of this position for all Service Categories may include: • Managing the day-to-day operations; and • Ensuring the quality and timely completion of projects; and • Providing technical and subject matter expertise in fulfillment of a scope of work; and • Participating as a senior team member providing high-level consulting services; and • Planning, organizing, and executing project tasks in successful delivery of services; and • Developing and defining strategic visions; and • Planning, directing, controlling, scheduling, coordinating, and organizing management of tasks; and • Providing Customer interface in fulfillment of a scope of work; and • Possessing authority and responsibility for the execution of a scope of work; and • Planning, organizing, and overseeing all subordinate work efforts; and • Ensuring quality standards and work performance on all scopes of work and projects; and • Organizing, directing, and managing support services. Customers may supplement these duties in providing services to the Customer, so long as they are similar or equivalent services that do not exceed or conflict with the services contemplated in the Department’s Contract Scope of Work.
Senior position. 12.1. Where a permanent employee is assigned to a position with a higher classification he shall immediately receive the basic rate of pay applicable to that classification, and continue to do so for as long as he fills such position. 12.2. Notwithstanding the above, if it is known at the onset that an assignment would be for a period of eight (8) consecutive weeks or longer, the assignment will be posted internally. 12.3. If a permanent employee temporarily works any regular or overtime hours in a lower paid capacity his basic rate of pay shall not be reduced.
Senior position. 18.1. A Platoon Chief and a Lieutenant shall be maintained on duty at all times, and a Captain shall be maintained on duty at all times at each station. 18.2. Temporary vacancies in Officer classifications shall be filled as follows: 18.2.1. In the event of a temporary vacancy in a Platoon Chief position, a Captain on the platoon concerned shall act as Platoon Chief as required. 18.2.2. In the event of a temporary vacancy in a Captain position, a Lieutenant or a Qualified Officer on the platoon concerned shall act as Captain as required. 18.2.3. In the event of a temporary vacancy in a Lieutenant position, a Qualified Officer on the platoon concerned shall act as Lieutenant as required. 18.2.3.1. If there are not two (2) Qualified Officers on the affected platoon, a Senior Fire Fighter may act provided he is one of the eight (8) Senior Fire Fighters with the most seniority. 18.2.4. In the event of a temporary vacancy in the Fire Marshal position, a Fire Prevention Officer IV shall act as Fire Marshal as required. 18.2.5. When a temporary vacancy causes a shortage requiring backfilling by overtime, the position shall be backfilled with a member of the same rank that caused the shortage unless no member of that rank is available. 18.3. The eight (8) Senior Fire Fighters with the most seniority who meet all of the technical knowledge and competency standards of the Lieutenant classification as identified in the Fire Service Human Resources Development Program shall be classified as a Qualified Officer. 18.4. When a member is placed in a temporarily vacant senior position for a period of at least one hour, he shall receive the senior rate of pay for each full hour worked. 18.5. In the event of a temporary vacancy of more than four (4) months in a Platoon Chief, Captain, Lieutenant or Fire Marshal position, the senior member on the respective “Promotion List” shall be promoted in accordance with the Promotional Policy. In the event that the absent Officer should return to work, any Officer temporarily promoted shall revert back to his former position. 18.5.1. If it is known at the outset that the temporary vacancy will be more than four
Senior position. Employees who have attained at least three (3) years of service in a position and have been at the top of the salary range for at least three years in that position, shall advance to the "senior" position the January 1st on which they meet the three-year criteria. The same three (3) year criteria and procedure will apply for advancement to the “senior+” position. By way of example an employee who reaches the top of the salary range on January 1, 2000 will advance to the “senior” position on January 1, 2003.
Senior position. It is understood that twelve (12) hour shift positions are the senior positions and the eight (8) hour shift positions are the junior positions. Vacancies of twelve (12) hour shift positions shall be posted as per Article 14.01 and filled by the most senior full-time applicant.
