Seniority Principle. The Parties recognize that job opportunity and seniority should increase in proportion to length of service. It is agreed that the term "seniority" as used herein, shall have reference to an employee's right to a job based upon their length of service with the Company, and their potential to efficiently fulfil the job requirements.

(b) All promotions, transfers, filling of vacancies, layoffs, terminations, will be done strictly in accordance with the principles set forth in 8.01 (a), except as provided in 8.01 (c).
(c) Promotions or transfers to higher paid jobs or better jobs with equal pay shall be based on an employee's ability, qualifications and seniority. Among employees meeting the requirements of a job as set forth in the job posting, seniority shall be the governing factor.
(d) Seniority of each employee covered by this Agreement shall be established after a probationary period of thirty (30) calendar days. Seniority when established shall count from the date of employment.

For the purposes of greater certainty it is agreed that the term “seniority” as used herein, shall have reference to an employees’ right to a job based upon his/her length of service with the Company, and his/her ability to efficiently fulfill the job requirements.
b) All promotions, demotions, transfers, filling of vacancies, layoffs, terminations, vacations, shifts and re-hiring after layoffs or termination will be done strictly in accordance with the principles set forth in 8.01 a).
c) Employees with the same seniority date shall be ranked on the seniority list as determined by a draw, supervised by the Employer and the Unit President present.
d) A new Employee will not have any seniority and will be considered a probationary Employee until the Employee has attained seniority by working a probationary period totaling sixty-five (65) workdays. Upon completion of such probationary period, the Employee will acquire seniority status and will have his or her seniority date backdated to the date of the Employee’s original date of hire. Seniority will be on an office-wide basis, and will mean total length of service in the bargaining unit, as defined above.
