Shift Adjustment. Management retains the right to adjust the shift hours; however, there will be no partial adjustments and any change in shift hours will affect the entire shift. At least seven (7) calendar days’ notice will be given in the event shift hours are to be altered, except in the case of circumstances beyond the control and knowledge of Management such as acts of God, riots, flood, civil disorder and similar acts.
Shift Adjustment. A. An employee whose shift starts on or after 7:00 P.M. but before 5:00 A.M. shall be deemed to be working the #1 midnight shift and shall be compensated at 110% of his/her normal hourly rate. B. An employee whose shift starts on or after 5:00 A.M. but before 12:00 noon shall be deemed to be working the #2 day shift. C. An employee whose shift starts on or after 12:00 noon but before 7:00 P.M. shall be deemed to be working the #3 afternoon shift and shall be compensated at 105% of his/her normal hourly rate. D. Schedules shall be established by the administration within the following guidelines: #1 midnight shift start times between 11:30 P.M. and 2:00 A.M. #2 day shift start times between 7:30 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. #3 afternoon shift start times between 3:00 P.M. and 5:30 P.M. E. Management reserves the right to assign shifts and shift changes. Management will endeavor to give at least twenty-four (24) hours notice of any change of shift and/or shift starting time. F. An employee may be permitted to adjust his/her work day or start at times outside the above guidelines provided he/she has the prior approval of his/her direct supervisor.
Shift Adjustment. An employee who works other than the normal day shift and is called to jury duty and appears for jury duty shall have their work hours changed to the normal day shift and then be given the appropriate amount of time off.

If court or another assignment prevents a Sergeant from getting proper rest between shifts, the Sergeant and the Watch Commander may arrange a shift adjustment to meet this need. With approval, the Sergeant could opt to use adjusted court time towards normal work hours instead of overtime, or to adjust shift start time up to four hours. In cases where the Watch Commander determines an adjustment is warranted but does not have sufficient staffing, s/he is authorized to bring in a replacement (on overtime) for up to four hours. • Shift adjustments will not be limited by day or time except as articulated above.
Shift Adjustment. In the event that an employee’s work schedule, as defined in Section 18.1.1 is changed and the employee is assigned to a new patrol shift (day/swing/grave) with less than seventy-two (72) hours’ notice, the employee shall work the new shift. All hours worked outside of the hours the employee was originally scheduled to work shall be paid at the employee’s overtime rate of pay or in compensatory time off, at their discretion. If the employee voluntarily requests a new patrol shift outside of their regular patrol shift, then the overtime and compensatory time off provisions of this section shall not apply.

Shift Adjustment. Without impacting the remainder of a unit member’s workweek based on the determination of the Chief or designee, overtime may be covered by extending the shift of a unit member. An employee who has their shift extended and who works a minimum of four (4) hours overtime will be moved down to the bottom of the rotation list.
Shift Adjustment. DISTRICT and SHERIFF acknowledge that there will be instances where the DISTRICT may wish to request that the deputy temporarily work different hours from their normal working hours, referred to as a “shift adjustment.” For example, DISTRICT may desire the deputy to work from 1200 through 2100 on dates that DISTRICT sponsored events are planned, such as football games. Requesting a shift adjustment in advance eliminates the need for the DISTRICT to pay overtime wages for the deputy to cover the event. However, it is acknowledged that overtime may be incurred if an unforeseen event occurs requiring the deputy to work more than their scheduled shift. DISTRICT shall submit a shift adjustment request in writing to the area Captain not less than fifteen (15) business days in advance of the requested shift change. The area Captain shall review the request and reply to the DISTRICT not more than five (5) business days after the request is received. If DISTRICT does not submit its request within the deadline and wishes to have the deputy cover the event, overtime rates shall be charged.
Shift Adjustment. An Officer may be allowed to adjust their work hours where manpower requirements allows to attend any classes in the above-mentioned programs. Schedule adjustments must be approved by the Shift Commander.
