TEACHING HOURS AND CLASS LOAD. A. Teacher hours of duty shall be: Seven (7) hours and forty-five (45) minutes per day
B. Starting time and completion time will be established by the Board and Administration for each building. Each high school and middle school teacher will be provided one (1) conference period during the student day. The length of such period for the middle school shall be the same as the regular class period. Elementary teachers (grades K-5) will be provided 225 minutes per week for planning. Each planning session will be no less than 25 minutes in duration.
C. The instructional time for all positions shall be in compliance with state requirements. The middle school teachers shall be required to teach a maximum of six (6) classes per day and the high school teachers shall be required to teach a maximum of five (5) on a 6 period student day and 6 periods per day on a 7 period student day. While 4 x 4 block scheduling exists in the high school, teachers shall be required to teach a maximum of three (3) periods per day. In a modified block schedule, teachers shall be required to teach a maximum of 4 periods per day.
D. All teachers shall be entitled to a duty free lunch period of not less than thirty (30) minutes.
E. The Board shall make every effort to schedule classes to end no later than 4:00 p.m.
F. When substitutes are not available for classroom assignments, due to teacher absences, the following steps will be taken by the Administration:
1. Volunteers from a sign-up list will be asked to fill classroom voids.
2. When the above step has been exhausted, teachers will be assigned on a rotating basis to fill classrooms. Teachers will be reimbursed at the follow rates per class periods for all such assignments: High School $27.00 Middle School $27.00 Elementary $27.00 Teachers shall accept assignments from administrative personnel during assemblies or special programs that fall during the school day without reimbursements. Effort will be made by Administration to maintain media center effectiveness by avoiding assignment to the media center of classes for which teachers or substitute teachers have not been obtained. In the event that media specialists are assigned to a class, in lieu of a substitute, the above rates shall apply. Under these circumstances the media center shall remain open. Elementary –Teachers shall be required to report for duty at 7:55 a.m. before the opening of the pupils' regular school day at 8:05 a.m. and shall be permitted to leave at 3:27 p.m. after the close of the pupils' regular school day. Teachers shall remain for a sufficient period after the close of the pupils' school day to attend to those matters which properly require attention at that time, including mutually agreed upon staff meetings and consultations with parents when scheduled directly with the teacher, except that on Fridays or days preceding holidays or vacations, the teachers' day shall end at the close of the pupils' class day.

Teachers on a regular schedule will report for duty in the morning by 7:50 a.m. and shall leave no earlier than 3:14 p.m. These times are based on a calendar of 186 teacher days for the school calendar for the life of the 2021-2024 contract. Zero-hour teachers will report for duty ten (10) minutes before the beginning of the pupils' school day and leave no earlier than five (5) minutes after the close of the Zero-hour pupils' school day. The maximum teacher duty time shall be six (6) hours and fifty-four (54) minutes per day.

Within the work day all teachers shall be entitled to thirty (30) minutes duty-free lunch period. Teachers may leave the building at lunch to take care of legitimate, personal business. Teachers are required not to return late. Teachers will make arrangements with parents who request to meet outside of the normal work day.
TEACHING HOURS AND CLASS LOAD. A. The beginning and end of a teacher’s school day shall be the same as the student day except as provided in the school calendar.
B. 1. The weekly load in the junior/middle and senior high schools will not exceed twenty-five (25) teaching periods and five (5) unassigned preparation or conference periods and a homeroom. Alternatively, the weekly load in the junior/middle school will not exceed twenty-five (25) teaching periods, five (5) team planning periods, five (5) unassigned preparation and conference periods and a home room. Total required pupil contact will not exceed twenty-five (25) hours per week. Special interest classes, which meet on regular school hours, no more than once a week, will be exempt from the maximum number of pupil contacts.

The teaching day for all teachers shall start 15 minutes prior to the regularly scheduled school day and end 10 minutes after the regularly scheduled school day, except that on Fridays and the day before holidays, the teachers may leave five minutes after dismissal. 1. The Board and the Association agree that Teachers have professional duties to attend to before and after the academic day. In view of this, efforts shall be made to minimize all non-essential, non-teaching duties which might occur before or after the academic day.
2. Teachers will perform bus supervision duty as required by the Principal, which may include Fridays or days preceding a holiday(s) or break/recess period(s).
B. During the work day, a Teacher who is involved in negotiations, the Grievance process and/or arbitration hearings, shall be released without loss of compensation.
