Temporary and Part time Employees 1. Employees who are employed for less than 1/2 time are not eligible for District group insurance plans or contributions. Employees who are contracted from 1/2 time to less than 3/4 time are eligible and receive one half of the District contribution and must pay the other half themselves to participate. Employees who are contracted for 3/4 time or more shall receive full group insurance contributions. 2. Temporary employees who are hired to fill a continuous assignment of more than 1/2 the days inthe normal employee work year shall be eligible for group insurance benefits on the same basis as other regularly contracted employees. 3. Those employees (except above 1039 hours for retired teachers) whose assignment exceeds 599 hours must participate in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS).

Temporary and Part. Time Employees‌ 33.01 Temporary Employees (i) Temporary Employee – a new hire for term(s) or task(s) or to replace another Employee, and will not exceed eighteen (18) calendar months. (ii) A Letter of Offer is to be prepared outlining the conditions of employment and the Union is to receive a copy once temporary employment has been accepted. The Letter of Offer must contain a standard paragraph inviting Temporary Employees to apply for any and all Permanent positions as they arise. (iii) At the end of fifteen (15) calendar months the Union is to be notified by the Company of the status of the Temporary Employee. (iv) If the temporary position becomes permanent it must be posted. The posting will be open to all Employees including Temporary Employees and will be filled as per Article 11. (v) Temporary Employees shall be entitled to an increment upon becoming permanent, but not prior to twelve (12) months. (vi) All Temporary Employees will be eligible for vacation and sick leave benefits. Temporary service will be applied to waiting period(s) for other benefits upon becoming permanent. (vii) All Temporary employees will be eligible for benefits, per the following, effective July 14, 2009: (a) a qualifying period of twenty six (26) weeks during which a minimum of three hundred and ninety (390) hours must be completed before being eligible for benefits; (b) upon achieving eligibility, employees will be covered as follows; (i) basic dental coverage for the employee only; 33.02 Students (ii) basic life insurance coverage at $50,000.00 for the employee only;
Temporary and Part time Regular Employees shall receive their first increment (advance one step on the Faculty Salary Scale) on the first of the month following the completion of the equivalent of the annual workload of a full-time Regular Faculty member. 11.3.6.1 Providing that ten (10) months of Full-time equivalent Faculty work has accrued in the calendar year since the last increment, subsequent increments shall be due on the same day one year later. 11.3.6.2 If ten (10) months of Full-time equivalent Faculty work has not accrued in the calendar year since the last increment, subsequent increments shall be due on the first of the month following the completion of the equivalent of the annual workload of a Full-time Regular Faculty member. 11.3.6.3 A Temporary or Part-time Regular Employee may not receive a subsequent increment in a time span of less than one calendar year.

  • Temporary Vacancies The Company and the Union recognize that temporary employees may be required to temporarily provide additional manpower due to vacation, weekly indemnity, excess of work, etc. All temporary employees performing bargaining unit work are members of the bargaining unit and as such all terms and conditions of the collective agreement apply except as herein provided. Individuals may be hired to fill temporary vacancies. Temporary vacancies and employees shall last a maximum of eight (8) calendar weeks. This does not prevent the Company and the Union from mutually agreeing to extend the eight (8) week limitation on an individual basis. However, unless there is written agreement to the contrary, the eight (8) calendar week limitation shall be respected. Should the position be made permanent, the job will be posted as per 9.07(e). Any skills or experience gained by the temporary employee while in the temporary job, shall not be used to determine him more suitable for the position than the employee with seniority who applies. Prior to any layoff all temporary employees will be terminated. Overtime will only be offered to temporary employees after all qualified senior and probationary employees within the classification concerned have refused. Public holidays will be paid to the temporary employees as per the Employment Standards Act Part X (10). Temporary employees will be hired for the applicable classification and wage rate as per Appendix A of the Collective Agreement. Should a temporary employee apply for a job posting and be successful as per Article 9.07 of the Collective Agreement the temporary employee shall then become a probationary employee. The seniority date of a temporary employee who is awarded a full-time position will equal the date the full-time position is awarded. No person, who is or has been employed by the Company outside of the bargaining unit, shall be eligible to work as a temporary employee within the bargaining unit, unless his record of employment with the Company has been severed in excess of one week.
