The Temporary and Special Assignments clause defines the terms under which employees may be assigned to roles or tasks outside their usual duties for a limited period. Temporary and Special Assignments. Temporary and special assignments shall be by mutual agreement between the Employer and the Employee. Seniority and qualifications shall be considered for these assignments.
Temporary and Special Assignments. The Public Safety Chief may choose the officer assigned to a special assignment (MAGNET, Community Police Officer), seniority and qualifications shall be considered for these assignments. The duration of a special assignment shall be up to four (4) years. The four (4) year period will be deemed to continue until the time of the first shift bid occurring on or after the date on which the employee has been in the assignment for four years. (a) Officers shall wait one year before applying for another special assignment, unless a special assignment is available and no other officer puts in for the vacancy. Officers may apply and be eligible without waiting a year. Extensions of a special assignment can also be granted for up to 60 days if mutually agreed upon by both parties. (b) Temporary assignments are assignments intended to be filled on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed one year. (c) The MAGNET Officer shall work 80 hours in a pay period in conjunction with the MAGNET assigned work hours. Overtime will not be paid until the MAGNET Officer actually works the four (4) additional hours and overtime will be paid for any hours worked over 84 hours in a pay period.
Temporary and Special Assignments. Training/Quality Assurance Coordinator and Technology Services Coordinator (replacing system administrator) shall be special assignments, appointed by the Executive Director. Terms of appointment shall be for one (1) year, but may be modified or renewed at the discretion of the Executive Director. Those serving in special assignments will be considered a relief shift, covering supervisor vacancies (to the extent possible). Those in special assignments will have the opportunity to bid, based on Classification seniority, whether they are day or night relief. Notwithstanding, when not covering a vacancy, they will work a set schedule, subject to the discretion of the Executive Director, or designee, based on the operational needs of the Authority.

  • Temporary Assignments When an employee is assigned temporarily by his/her appointing authority to a job for which he/she is qualified in a higher pay grade for a period of five (5) days or his/her regular workweek, whichever is less, the employee shall be paid retroactively from the initial date of the temporary transfer for the duration of the temporary assignment. The employee shall be paid as if he/she had been promoted during such assignment. In no event may an employee acquire any status in a higher classification as a result of his/her temporary assignment. Acting capacity assignments shall not be made on an arbitrary or capricious basis. Employees shall not be rotated in acting capacity in an arbitrary or capricious manner in order to avoid payment of acting capacity pay. This Article shall not be used in lieu of the proper processing of any request for reclassification or reallocation of a position pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Reclassifications Article, or the filling of a vacancy pursuant to the Personnel Rules and the Seniority Article.

  • Temporary Assignment Notwithstanding Article 2.04(b)(iii), Regular or Temporary Employees may be assigned to relieve others for additional duties. (a) Where an Employee is assigned to temporarily replace another Employee who is receiving a Responsibility Allowance as per Article 16.01, such Employee shall receive an amount not greater than the amount provided in Article 16.01. (b) When an Employee is assigned to replace another Employee in a higher paid classification for one (1) full Shift or longer, the Employee shall be paid an additional amount equal to the differential between the Employee's current rate of pay and the equivalent step for the more senior classification in which the Employee is relieving. (c) When an Employee is assigned to replace another person in an out-of-scope position at a more senior level for one (1) full Shift or longer, the Employee shall be paid an additional $2.00 per hour.

  • Temporary Positions A) The Employer may create regular temporary positions for vacation relief for more than one (1) incumbent for up to six (6) months duration. B) The Employer may create regular temporary project positions (i.e. grant funded, capital projects, pilot projects, or term specific assignments) for up to twelve (12) months’ duration. These positions are not renewable after the end date of the project, unless the Union and Employer agree to renew/extend the time limits. C) These positions will be posted and filled in accordance with Article 17.01-

  • Pay on Temporary Assignment An employee temporarily assigned by the Employer to a position with a rate of pay lower than her regular rate of pay shall maintain her regular rate of pay.
