Classification definition

Classification means the identification of a position by reference to a class title and pay range number.
Classification means that each position in the classified service shall have a designated title, a regular minimum number of assigned hours per day, days per week, and months per year, a specific statement of the duties required to be performed by the employees in each such position, and the regular monthly salary ranges for each such position.
Classification means a group of positions involving duties and responsibilities so alike that the same qualifications may be reasonably required for, and the same schedule of pay can be equitably applied to, all positions in the group.
