Applied Research. The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) in cooperation with Swiss actor(s) that will be identified during the preparation of the Support Measure. Basic Research: The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in cooperation with the Polish partner that will be identified during the preparation of the Support Measure. Details of cooperation will be described in the Support Measure Agreement. Swiss Support Measure Partner(s) Swiss research institutions and agencies Other specificities related to the Support Measure Applied Research: The contracts between the Programme Operator and the Programme Component Operators (beneficiaries) are concluded in PLN. The budget set in PLN at the Support Measure Proposal is indicative and the grant amount in CHF is binding. Basic research: The Programme Operator will be the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF); Joint research projects will be selected and managed according to established SNSF procedures and systems. Specific rules, deviating from the Regulations e.g. on selection, financial flows (including direct transfers from the SDC to the SNSF), audit and reporting may be applied and further defined in the Support Measure Agreement. Switzerland and Poland agree that the following articles of the Regulations will be amended in the respective Support Measure Agreements, in the following way, in order to cope with the particularities of each Support Measure. In general, the Support Measure Steering Committee shall be composed of the following members: the NCU/Programme Operator as Chair; if applicable, the Intermediate Body as Deputy Chair; the NCU/Programme Operator as Secretary; the SCO; if appropriate, any other thematically relevant entity from Poland and/or from Switzerland. The exact composition of the Support Measure Steering Committee and the voting rights of its members shall be defined in the relevant Support Measure Agreement, taking into account that: a) the NCU/Programme Operator shall have the right to vote; b) the SCO shall have the right to vote; c) the NCU and the SCO shall the right to veto any decision taken by the Support Measure Steering Committee.

Applied Research. Applied Research" refers to work directed toward the discovery, development or improvement of specific compositions of matter, methods or processes of potential medical and/or commercial utility which are potentially useful in, or potentially necessary to, the application of any technological aspect of the Licensed Patents or Licensed Invention. Applied Research therefore includes, without limitation, research relating to therapeutic, diagnostic and pharmaceutical applications, as well as tools for further research.

Applied Research. This activity translates promising basic research into solutions for broadly defined military needs, short of major development projects, with a view to developing and evaluating technical feasibility. This type of effort may vary from fairly fundamental applied research to sophisticated breadboard hardware, study, programming and planning efforts that establish the initial feasibility and practicality of proposed solutions to technological challenges. It would thus include studies, investigations, and development effort. The dominant characteristic of this category of effort is that it be pointed toward specific military needs with a view toward developing and evaluating the feasibility and practicability of proposed solutions and determining their parameters. Program control of the Applied Research element will normally be exercised by general level-of-effort. Applied Research precedes the system specific research described in ▇▇▇▇ 5000. 1. It is the responsibility of the offerors to suggest how they would optimize the use of the available funds in order to further the NS CTA objectives. It is the intent of this PA to solicit the most creative, innovative and flexible approaches to the ultimate goal of generating and exploiting technology to solve pressing long-term and short-term military and commercial sector problems. Therefore, while important research issues have been suggested below, offerors may propose to alter the suggested content to further the NS CTA goals. An offeror may propose to investigate additional research issues, or propose to deemphasize research issues suggested in any Center in this PA, but not to the exclusion of strong interdisciplinary and cross Center collaborations. However, offerors should not propose to alter any Center or propose additional research Centers. All results of the Fundamental Research Component must be publishable without constraint in the public domain. ▇▇▇ acknowledges that during the period of performance, novel ideas in any of the research areas of the Fundamental Research Component may emerge that are especially important for the Army. Therefore, ARL reserves the right to withhold up to 20% of annual Alliance funding provided to ARL through the appropriation process to fund novel research projects related to the Fundamental Research Component (See Paragraph III.4 below.)   • Research Project The findings of any research project, which would change the provisions of this Agreement will not be implemented until such changes are negotiated and agreed to by the parties.

  • Research Use The Requester agrees that if access is approved, (1) the PI named in the DAR and (2) those named in the “Senior/Key Person Profile” section of the DAR, including the Information Technology Director and any trainee, employee, or contractor1 working on the proposed research project under the direct oversight of these individuals, shall become Approved Users of the requested dataset(s). Research use will occur solely in connection with the approved research project described in the DAR, which includes a 1-2 paragraph description of the proposed research (i.e., a Research Use Statement). Investigators interested in using Cloud Computing for data storage and analysis must request permission to use Cloud Computing in the DAR and identify the Cloud Service Provider (CSP) or providers and/or Private Cloud System (PCS) that they propose to use. They must also submit a Cloud Computing Use Statement as part of the DAR that describes the type of service and how it will be used to carry out the proposed research as described in the Research Use Statement. If the Approved Users plan to collaborate with investigators outside the Requester, the investigators at each external site must submit an independent DAR using the same project title and Research Use Statement, and if using the cloud, Cloud Computing Use Statement. New uses of these data outside those described in the DAR will require submission of a new DAR; modifications to the research project will require submission of an amendment to this application (e.g., adding or deleting Requester Collaborators from the Requester, adding datasets to an approved project). Access to the requested dataset(s) is granted for a period of one (1) year, with the option to renew access or close-out a project at the end of that year. Submitting Investigator(s), or their collaborators, who provided the data or samples used to generate controlled-access datasets subject to the NIH GDS Policy and who have Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and who meet any other study specific terms of access, are exempt from the limitation on the scope of the research use as defined in the DAR.
