Certification Completion. The Employer shall provide a salary base increase upon the completion of an approved certification program. Approval of a certification program must be documented on a form provided by the Employer before the certification program begins. Certifications must relate to the unit member’s position and better qualify the unit member to perform assigned tasks. The amount of the salary base increase will be determined by the Employer taking into consideration the time investment, the cost of obtaining the certification and the benefit to the College. After providing the salary increase under this Section, the Employer has the right to continue to require the unit member to maintain a current certificate without further compensation. As long as the certification is required, the Employer shall pay all costs associated with maintaining the certification.
