The "Day Work Week" clause defines the standard number of days and hours that constitute a regular work week for employees under the agreement. Typically, this clause specifies which days are considered workdays (such as Monday through Friday) and the expected daily or weekly working hours. For example, it may establish a 40-hour work week spread over five days. Its core practical function is to set clear expectations for both employers and employees regarding normal working schedules, thereby reducing misunderstandings and ensuring compliance with labor regulations.
Day Work Week. In the event a school implements a modified calendar consisting of a four-day full class schedule with an optional fifth day for students and where the modified four-day calendar results in a substantial decrease in food service operations, a special food service staffing shall be developed for the fifth day. Employees whose services are not needed at the site on the optional fifth day or whose work hours are reduced due to reduced food service operations will be given the option to work a day at another school if work is available, use personal reasons leave, or take a day off without pay provided, however, that no more than six (6) schools implement such a modified four-day calendar. In the event that more than six (6) schools implement such a modified four-day calendar, the parties agree to enter into impact bargaining on this issue.

Day Work Week. The first two (2) hours work performed in excess of the eight (8) hour work day Monday through Friday and the first eight (8) hours on Saturday shall be paid at one and one-half (1½) times the straight time rate. All work performed on Sundays, holidays, and in excess of ten (10) hours per day, Monday through Friday and eight (8) hours on Saturday shall be paid at two (2) times the straight time rate.

(a) (i) Subject to 16.01(c), the standard work day for all employees shall be seven and one half (7½) hours exclusive of a one half (½) hour unpaid meal period and the standard work week shall be thirty-seven and one half (37½) hours. Except in cases of emergency, the meal period shall be an uninterrupted period.

18.02 The employer will provide a thirty (30) minute meal period free from work during the employee’s shift.
18.03 Shift starts and rotations will be posted and shall not be changed without one week’s notice. When the Company changes an employee from their assigned shift to a different shift on a temporary basis, forty-eight (48) hours notice will be given. If an employee is given less than forty-eight hours (48) notice they shall be paid at time and one-half (1½) their regular straight time hourly rate of pay for their first eight (8) hours worked on their first day.
18.04 Overtime will be paid at time and one half (1.5) the hourly rate in accordance with the appropriate legislation. The Company will provide as much advance notice of the need for overtime as possible.
18.05 Call-In Pay
(a) Should an employee be called into to work prior to their normal shift start time, they will receive time and one half (1.5) their regular rate for the hours worked prior to their shift start.
(b) Should an employee be called into work on their day off they will be paid a minimum of four

Day Work Week. Employees who work on either the first or second of their two (2) scheduled days off will be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1½) their regular straight-time rate, provided such employees have worked five (5) work days in the work week if work is available to them.
