DAYS AND HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 19.01 Maximizing Hours of Employment Recognizing that (1) customer requirements dictate available hours of work and (2) the desirability of providing related job stability and security, the Employer agrees to introduce a bid schedule for positions based upon seniority and assigned by seniority at each depot. Wherever possible, positions will be bid and assigned by seniority preference for periods of six months, it being understood that the most senior employees may elect positions which do not have the most hours. On March 1st and September 1st of each year, the Employer shall post a list of positions, which shall specify the weekly hours of work and designate the general functions in brief form. Each employee, by seniority, shall bid for his/her desired position by signing his/her name to that position. The bid process must be completed by March 15th and September 15th respectively, and the Employer shall post the results for implementation commencing April 1st and October 1st. In the event that an employee fails to bid in a timely fashion, the Employer retains the right to assign his/her position. The Employer shall immediately contact the branch Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ before notice is given. Notwithstanding the above, the majority of employees at any depot may choose to opt out of the bid system and self-administer the scheduling of positions and hours of work, subject to Employer approval. Employees are entitled to maximize their hours in their home depot, in accordance with seniority. Where an employee’s hours are not maximized up to nine (9) hours per day and forty-five (45) hours per week, employees may pick up additional work at adjacent depots but shall not be entitled to exercise their seniority to displace regularly scheduled employees at the adjacent depots. Once senior employees have bid their runs, the next most senior employee shall indicate their choice as soon as possible but in no case shall they take longer than two (2) working days to do so. Failure to do so will allow the Employer to bypass that employee and accept the choice of less senior employees.

All with a one-half (2) hour unpaid lunch break. All shifts will be scheduled a minimum of four (4) hours except as stated in Article 22(e). $1.50 per hour premium will be paid for all hours worked outside the desirability daily "hours of providing related job stability work".
(b) The work week for full-time co-workers is five (5) days a week. All shifts for full-time co-workers shall be scheduled three (3) weeks in advance and securitythe schedule shall be posted on the scheduling notice board showing the hours of work, start/finish times and days of the Employer agrees to introduce a bid week. The weekly schedule for positions based upon seniority and assigned by seniority at each depotfull- time co-workers shall allow for fifty percent (50%) of the weekend off (a Saturday or Sunday). Shift changes from the posted schedule must be done by mutual agreement between co-workers, submitted in writing, and approved by the manager. Mutual shift changes must be done with a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours advance notice of the changed shift. Part-time co-workers not available for shifts (except by approved general leave) for thirty (30) days shall be considered to have voluntarily left and their employment shall be lost.
(d) Overtime at the rate of time and a half (1 ½ X) shall be paid for all work in a day in excess of eight (8) hours and all work in a week in excess of forty (40). Double time (2x) will be designed to achieve up to forty-five paid after ten (4510) hours per weekworked in any one (1) day.
(e) Co-workers attending the Employer's scheduled general staff meetings shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours at the applicable rate of pay, any overtime as outlined in Article 22(d) and only one (1) premium rate whichever of the premiums is greater. (g) All co-workers working with tools shall be allowed sufficient time during working hours to return tools, subject parts, etc. to the stores or crib before the end of their shift.
(h) All co-workers engaged in "dirty" work (i.e. work in which an co-worker gets dirty to the point where he would require a longer wash-up period to get clean), shall receive the last five minutes of their shift for a wash-up.
(i) Overtime is voluntary provided that the co-worker cannot collectively refuse to work overtime and where necessary the Employer approvalcan require a junior co- worker with the qualifications required to provide the overtime work. Employees are entitled No overtime will be accepted unless previously authorized by a department head, prior to maximize their hours in their home depotthe overtime commencing. DAYS AND HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME. 19.01 Maximizing Hours of Employment Recognizing that (1a) customer requirements dictate available This Article is intended to define the normal hours of work and shall not be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week, or of days of work per week. Nothing in the Collective Agreement constitutes a guarantee of work with the exception of the specific provisions for guaranteed co-workers in Article 23 and minimum shift length in Article 24. Monday to Sunday (inclusive) 6:00 am - 1 2:00 am $1 .50 per hour premium will be paid for all hours worked outside the daily "hours of work".
(b) The work weekforfull time co-workers is five (5) days a week. All shifts for full-time and part-t ime co-workers shall be scheduled three (3) weeks in advance and the schedule shall be posted on the scheduling notice board showing the hours of work, start/finish times and days of the week. The weekly schedule for full-time co-workers shall allow for fifty percent (50%) of the weekend off (a Saturday or Sunday). The selection of the Saturday or Sunday day off will be at the discretion of the Employer and based on the needs of the business. Every effort will be made to schedule two (2) consecutive days off. Co-workers who hold a guaranteed position pursuant to Article 23(d) and (e) are required to be available for work on Saturdays and Sundays. They also must be available a minimum of two closes per week if required. Any change in the desirability posted schedule shall be upon forty-eight (48 ) hours' notice at a minimum. Changes required to cover unanticipated absences or illness will not require advance notice.
(c) The scheduling of providing related job stability part-time co-workers shall be done to support business needs with a distribution of shifts as follows: Guaranteed co-workers by seniority, with every effort to schedule two consecutive days off Unrestricted co-workers by seniority on a weekly basis Restricted co-workers by seniority on a daily basis Co-workers who are unrestricted will be scheduled ahead of co-workers with restrictions, regardless of seniority. When a specific qualification is required, the Employer may schedule outside of seniority. The Employer will endeavour to cross-train within depart ments to minimize the number of unqualified coworkers.
(d) If part-time co-workers do not meet the minimum availability requirements or are not available for shifts fortwenty-one (21) days, unless on an approved leave, they shall be considered to have voluntarily left and securitytheir employment shall be terminated and their seniority lost.
(e) While the Employer retains the rightto schedule individual co-workers in the Bargaining Unit, the Employer agrees where feasible to introduce a bid schedule for positions based upon seniority and assigned by seniority at each depot. Wherever possible, positions will be bid and assigned by seniority preference for periods of six months, it being understood that the most senior employees may elect positions which do not have the most hours. It is understood that the runs are designed cooperate with co-workers with regard to achieve up to nine (9) hours per day and forty-five (45) hours per week. It is further understood that runs incorporating the Vancouver trip or Kootenays trip will be designed to achieve up to forty-five (45) hours per week. (g) The Employer may explore implementing new shift times for all "goods flow" co-administer workers and will ensure that meaningful discussion occurs with the scheduling Union prior to implementation.
(h) Shift changes from the posted schedule must be done by mutual agreement between co-workers, submitted in writ ing and approved by the manager. Mutual shift changes must be done with a minimum of positions and hours of work, subject to Employer approval. Employees are entitled to maximize their hours in their home depot, in accordance with seniority.
