Extended School Year Clause Samples
The Extended School Year clause defines the conditions under which educational services are provided to students beyond the standard academic calendar. Typically, this clause outlines eligibility criteria, the duration and type of services offered during the extended period, and the process for determining which students qualify—often focusing on those with special needs who risk significant regression without continued instruction. Its core function is to ensure that students who require additional support to maintain educational progress receive necessary services, thereby addressing gaps that may arise during long school breaks.
Extended School Year. For the extended school year program for 44 students receiving a 1 or 2 score on the state mandated assessments, a listing 45 of anticipated openings with instructions for submitting applications for 46 such openings, including any pertinent information regarding the positions, 1 shall be posted at each school site at which openings are expected to occur.
Extended School Year. 8.1 Effective June 1, 2014, the Extended School Year includes Teachers who provide Specialized Academic Instruction or Designated Instructional Services. This section is not applicable to teachers who may be employed in summer school programs that are not considered part of the Extended School Year program.
8.2 Teachers who are employed in the Severely Handicapped and Hearing Impaired programs, or who provide the Designated Instructional Services to the Severely Handicapped program, agree to work in the extended year program and accept the concept that children in these programs are in need of an extended school year.
8.3 Teachers who work an extended school year are required to work the same number of days as other Teachers covered by this Agreement in order to receive the base salary determined by their placement on the District's salary schedule. Additional salary remuneration will be granted on a per diem basis for additional days worked during the extended school year.
8.4 Teachers shall notify the District by March 15 in order to be excluded from teaching the extended school year. After March 15, Teachers may file requests to be excluded from teaching the extended year if conditions exist which would prevent them from doing so. The request shall be filed with the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources. Teachers employed to work in the extended school year agree to work an additional period not to exceed thirty (30) days.
8.5 The Board agrees to declare its intent in regard to the adoption of the extended school year for Severely Handicapped students by April 20. Nothing in this declaration shall be construed as limiting the Board's right to cancel said intent in cases of loss of state funding or other factors beyond the Board's control.
8.6 The minimum days for the Extended School Year shall coincide with Summer School or be a minimum of twenty (20) days. For teachers teaching an Extended School Year, there will be no minimum days during the twenty-day period.
Extended School Year. Each employee filling the position of special education teacher during Extended School Year, which is a mandatory program offered to special education students during the summer, will receive per diem or professional rate, whichever is greater.
Extended School Year. Employees hired to provide Extended School Year services will be compensated at a rate of $35 per hour. In addition, a total of up to four (4) hours of paid preparatory time will be provided to employees prior to or at the conclusion of the time they are expected to begin providing Extended School Year services to students.
Extended School Year. 1. Compensation for an extended school year will include the basic salary plus 1/187 of the basic amount for each additional day.
2. The individual contract of employment lists the basic (187 day) salary plus the pay for additional days.
Extended School Year. The extended school year includes all special education programs 29 that continue to operate beyond the conclusion of the regular academic year. The first 30 opportunity for such work will be offered to employees, in seniority order, currently working 31 with students who are recommended for the extended school year. If no such employees are 32 available, the positions will be filled according to the regular bid process. 33
Extended School Year. HLC may provide an additional four weeks of services at the end of the school year, during the summer, at an additional cost of Three Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($3,700.00). If School District opts to obtain these services (as shown by its representative’s initials below), paragraph 3 of this Agreement shall be modified to the extent necessary to extend the term of this Agreement by four weeks beyond the end of the school year. Dates for Summer ESY are July 7th, 2020 through July 31st, 2020. Please note: If Student is approved to receive below therapy services during the school year, they will also receive them during the Summer ESY program accordingly. By initialing on this line, School District accepts the Extended School Year Services during summer of 2020 and agrees to the terms of paragraph 5(a) above_ _.
Extended School Year. The District will determine if summer school will be offered and communicate the decision to bargaining unit members on or before April 15 of each year.
Extended School Year. All personnel assigned to summer sessions, shall be offered employment on a contract separate from the regular school year contract as per the negotiated calendar. Regular school year employees normally assigned to duties which will be extended into summer sessions shall have the first option of signing for said summer session. Should regular school year employees decline summer employment, the positions will be posted and filled as per 7.11 and 7.
Extended School Year. Effective June 2014, members providing Extended School Year (ESY) services shall receive their per diem rate prorated to hours worked.
