The Flexible Learning clause establishes the ability for learners to access educational content and complete coursework according to their own schedules and preferred learning methods. This clause typically allows for asynchronous participation, online modules, or self-paced study, accommodating diverse needs such as work commitments or different learning speeds. Its core function is to increase accessibility and convenience, ensuring that education can fit around individual circumstances and promoting greater participation.
Flexible Learning. Students may be eligible for an independent study period when they have successfully acquired a school-based traineeship or apprenticeship, have enrolled in further education external to the school, enrolled in a distance education subject and have demonstrated commitment to this program for a minimum of one term. - AARA (Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments) may be provided in consultation with Heads of Department, Guidance Officers and the Deputy Principal. - The opportunity to be provided with an independent study period will be decided by the Deputy Principal for the Senior School on completion of the Application for Independent Study form by the student and parent, and then a meeting to discuss. - Students with independent study will spend these lessons in the Independent Learning Centre in Q Block. Students will not be permitted to study off campus during these lessons. - Failure to work diligently during Independent Study Lessons may result in the removal of the study period from the student’s timetable and a return to original classes and / or alternate supervision arrangements and possibly begin the process for Cancellation of Enrolment. - Students who require support or adjustment to their study program as a result of personal circumstances, will only be permitted to reduce their subject load after alternative support options are considered. The Guidance Officer along with other school staff will develop a support plan that ensures the student is appropriately supported. A certificate or letter from a medical practitioner will be taken into consideration but is not automatically grounds for a student to reduce their course load. - Some subjects have fees to cover the cost of enrolment with an external provider or for materials used by students in class work in order to provide meaningful learning experiences. - Students / families will be expected to cover the cost of participation in their academic pathway, before they will be allowed to contribute funds towards extra-curricular programs or functions such as sporting competitions, non-curriculum excursions / camps, the senior formal or purchase of the senior jersey. - Financial support is available through payment plans in consultation with the Business Manager. - Students are to present themselves in a way that demonstrates pride in themselves and their school by wearing the correct uniform at all times in the way that it was designed to be worn (as per the Uniform Policy). - Students...
Flexible Learning. Program Services may either occur within DECD school grounds or at facilities and locations approved by the Provider and relevant DECD School in the wider community, preferably within school hours. Some out-of-school hours work may be required.
Flexible Learning. Effective July 1, 2023, when an in-person or online course is delivered in a flexible learning modality (as defined by the Medicine Hat College calendar) for the first time by a faculty member, that faculty member delivering the course shall be provided twelve (12) hours of additional workload.

Faculty participation in Flexible Learning shall be voluntary and consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 2. Faculty members commissioned by the College to develop Flexible Learning courses or course materials shall enter into a Flexible Learning Commissioned Course Development Agreement. (Appendix E-1) 3. Faculty members commissioned by the College to develop a DE course or course materials shall receive either extra compensation or reassigned time, when the stipend can be equated to released time.
