The Paramedic Assignment Pay clause establishes additional compensation for paramedics assigned to specific duties or roles beyond their standard responsibilities. PARAMEDIC ASSIGNMENT PAY. Unit employees that possess a valid Paramedic certificate may be called upon to perform paramedic services and shall be compensated at four and one-half percent (4.5%) above his/her base hourly rate. Pursuant to CCR Section 571, Paramedic Assignment Pay shall be reported to CalPERS as special compensation under the category of Education Pay – Paramedic Pay.
PARAMEDIC ASSIGNMENT PAY. Firefighters assigned to attend Paramedic School shall receive a five (5%) bonus above base pay while attending Paramedic School and related training. Firefighters assigned to perform paramedic duties shall receive a ten (10%) bonus above base pay. Firefighters who have completed two years of Paramedic service with the City of Garden Grove and have obtained a recertification of their Paramedic training and area assigned to perform Paramedic duties shall receive a fifteen (15%) bonus above base pay. The three bonus pays referred to in this section shall be included in the base pay for both over time and cashout of leave benefits. This shall be the only bonus pay that will be calculated in this manner and sets no precedents for calculating other bonus pays in a similar manner. An employee is eligible to receive only one of these bonuses.
PARAMEDIC ASSIGNMENT PAY. 50.1 All assigned Paramedics will be paid as paramedics as established in Article 8, Wages. Any paramedic removed from assignment for more than 30 days will be paid as an EMT in accordance with Article 8, Wages. For the life of this agreement, no assigned paramedic will lose their assignment and pay unless he/she voluntarily leaves the assignment or is removed for cause.
50.2 All recertification requirements shall be the sole responsibility of the paramedic and EMT. The City will reimburse the employee for the continuing education costs incurred, in accordance with Article 25, as long as the employee has been pre-approved to attend the course by the Fire Chief or his/her designee. Attendance will be during the employee’s own time and will not be compensated by the City.
PARAMEDIC ASSIGNMENT PAY. Firefighters maintaining a State of California paramedic license and LA County Department of Health Services paramedic certification shall receive an additional fifteen percent (15%) above their respective Firefighter 56-hour base salary during such assignment. Captains and Engineers maintaining required State of California paramedic licenses and LA County Department of Health Services paramedic certification shall be paid at a rate of five percent (5%) above their base salary.
PARAMEDIC ASSIGNMENT PAY. The City shall pay Paramedic Assignment Pay to qualified Firefighters holding a current valid State of Texas Paramedic Certification, as follows: The City shall pay $414.88 bi-weekly to each Firefighter who is a certified Paramedic serving in a non-restricted status on an EMS unit (Medic units, squads, and supervisor vehicles) or in an administrative staff assignment position as designated by the Fire Chief or his designee. The City shall pay $140.38 bi-weekly to Captains and Senior Captain ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ participating in the Paramedic Officer Program (“POP”). The City shall pay $ 150.00 bi-weekly to each Firefighter serving as a Paramedic while in a restricted status.
