Position Posting Clause Samples
The Position Posting clause outlines the requirements and procedures for advertising or announcing job openings within an organization. Typically, it specifies where and how positions must be posted, such as on internal bulletin boards, company websites, or external job boards, and may set minimum posting periods to ensure all eligible candidates have an opportunity to apply. This clause ensures transparency and fairness in the hiring process by standardizing how job opportunities are communicated to potential applicants.
Position Posting. .1 When a vacancy occurs or a new position is created, the Employer shall within sixty (60) days notify the Union in writing and post notice of the position on all bulletin boards for a minimum of seven (7) days so that all members will know about the vacancy or new position. For the purpose of this section employees on the recall list will be advised of the vacancy or a new position. When a vacancy occurs resulting from an extended sick leave, the provisions of Article
Position Posting. (a) Where the Employer determines that:
i) A regular vacancy exists;
ii) A new position is created; or
iii) A temporary vacancy exists as a result of a leave of absence of three (3) months or more; and the Employer determines that the position is to be filled, a notice shall be posted.
(b) Only those positions which cannot be filled with an employee from the bargaining unit who meets the requirements of the job will be available for filling from outside the bargaining units.
(c) Subject to operational requirements, once a decision is made to post the position, the selection process will be completed and the position will be filled within sixty (60) calendar days.
Position Posting. (a) Where the Employer determines that:
(i) A regular vacancy exists; or
(ii) A new position is created; or
(iii) A temporary vacancy exists of three (3) months or more; or
(iv) Additional regular Part-Time hours which are available; and the Employer determines that the position is to be filled, a notice shall be posted.
(b) In accordance with 15.03 (a) above, a notice shall be posted for a period of fourteen (14) calendar days. The closing date for applications shall be indicated on the position posting. The Employer shall provide a copy of the posting to the Union. The notice shall include a brief description of the nature of the position, including any requirement to work at more than one site, classification title and an overview of the skills, abilities and qualifications required. Directions as to applying for the position or obtaining additional information about the position shall be included.
(c) Positions will be awarded to the successful candidate as soon as is reasonably possible following the closing date for the job posting.
(d) The Employer may combine Part-Time positions to become a single position, where operationally feasible.
(e) Any Employee filling a Temporary Position must complete not less than four

12.3.1 The University shall post Bargaining Unit vacancies within twenty (20) working days of the position becoming vacant. If a vacancy is not posted within the time allotted, the University shall provide in writing to the Association, rationale for the delay.
12.3.2 Prior to posting, Members on Layoff with Recall Rights (Article 16:) will be considered for vacant positions, followed by Members on Priority Placement (Article 14:). Members with Recall Rights who apply for positions at grade levels higher than they held at the time of layoff will be considered internal candidates. If the position remains vacant after this process, the University will post the position.
12.3.3 All Bargaining Unit positions will be posted internally. The University agrees that Members have priority over persons outside the Bargaining Unit.
12.3.4 Vacancies for new or existing positions as defined in Articles 12.1.1, 12.1.2, and 12.1.3 will be posted electronically, with a copy sent to the Association at the same time, for five (5) consecutive working days from the date of issue. Internal postings of Bargaining Unit positions are available to eligible Members only, as defined in Article 12.3.
12.3.5 The University may post all vacant Bargaining Unit Positions externally immediately after the internal posting deadline date has passed. In cases where the University believes that there are no internal applicants who have the required qualifications, skills and ability, as stated in the job posting, or believes that the terms and conditions of the position are such that no internal applicants would apply for the position, the University may request to post the position both internally and externally at the same time. Such requests would not be unreasonably denied by the Association. The posting will include:
(i) title, department, and description of the position;
(ii) position manager/department chair/ administrative manager and, where applicable, immediate supervisor;
(iii) job grade, salary range and job factor scores;
(iv) employment category, including the start and end dates for Limited-term and Recurring Positions;
(v) regular work schedule including any requirements to work evenings, weekends, or be on-call;
(vi) required qualifications, skills, and ability, including the allowance of equivalencies as defined in Article 12.4;
(vii) posting date, internal posting deadline, external posting deadline and the expected start date of the successful candidate.
12.3.6 To be eligi...
Position Posting. In all cases of promotions, transfers, and when new positions are created and vacancies occur, which the University requires to be filled, falling within those positions included in the description of the bargaining unit, notice shall be distributed to all departments and posted by the University in designated areas for five (5) working days. Applicants must apply, in writing, as per the instructions outlined on the posting. Initially, only applications from bargaining unit members shall be considered. The applicants’ qualifications and competence, as per Article 10.02, shall be considered by the University, with a view to determining the potential of the applicants to perform the position effectively. When there are no suitable applicants from within the bargaining unit, outside applicants may be considered and appointed, provided any change in qualifications expected is first communicated in a new posting. Should the position not be filled after a period of sixty-six (66) working days, commencing from five (5) working days after the date the job posting closes, the notice shall be posted again within the University for five (5) days. The University may temporarily fill an established position (without posting) for a period of six (6) months. Extension of the period may occur for a further two (2) months by mutual agreement of the Union and the University. All applications shall be considered in the strictest confidence, and no references shall be sought without the knowledge and consent of the applicant.
Position Posting. The Employer shall determine which courses will be offered on a sessional basis.
Position Posting a) When a vacancy occurs or a new position is created, the Employer shall within sixty (60) days notify the Union electronically and post notice of the position on the College’s Job Posting site for a minimum of seven (7) days so that all members will know about the vacancy or new position. Where practicable, job postings may also be posted on bulletin boards. For the purpose of this section employees on the recall list will be advised of the vacancy or a new position.
I. When a vacancy occurs resulting from an extended sick leave, the provisions of Article 12.07 will prevail. Should the vacancy exceed sixty (60) days, the position will be posted and filled within an additional thirty (30) days. The sixty (60) day time limitation may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties.
II. If qualified candidates within the unit apply for any vacancy, the Employer shall give them first consideration in filling the vacancy.
b) An increase of more than 20% of the hours of work identified in the original posting would constitute substantial change in the position and would require reposting of the position. In addition, all part-time jobs which become full-time must be reposted with the exception of part-time jobs which have been occupied by the same employee for more than 3 years.
c) The Employer may create and maintain an on-call list by hiring on-call employees. The successful applicant(s) will be included on the on-call list. Any employee going on an on- call list in a different department is below these posted positions as defined in Article 1.02 and cannot bump a posted position except as defined under Article 14.08.
d) In the event that the PPWC IT positions that are currently occupied by SCFA members become vacant, these vacancies will be posted for 7 days internally. The College will ensure there are no qualified internal applicants before these positions are advertised outside of the College.
Position Posting. When a position vacancy occurs or a new position is created, and the Library desires to fill that position the Library shall place a notice of the position vacancy on the Staff Center (with a link to the application process) and as an Announcement in the Employee Self Service (ESS) page, which notice shall remain for seven (7) calendar days. (A position vacancy includes temporary and full-time and part-time regular positions.) Notice of openings shall not appear in the Staff Newsletter; however, the Library will send a courtesy email to staff members to remind them to check ESS when jobs are posted.

27.02 The position posting shall describe the minimum requirements of the position and shall be based on the job description. Nothing in the position posting shall contravene the information contained in the job description. No important information (subject to space limitations) shall be omitted.
27.03 Following the closing of a posting, a complete list of the bargaining unit applicants and their respective seniority date shall be sent to the Union stating the position number thereon.
27.04 When an employee is temporarily assigned by the University to perform the principal duties of a position in a higher salary grade within the bargaining unit for more than five
Position Posting. When a vacancy occurs in any classification set forth in this agreement or if a new position arises within, management shall notify the Union forty-eight (48) hours in advance. Management then shall proceed to post notice of such vacancy or new position on bulletin boards requesting employees in the bargaining unit to tender bids on such vacancy or new position. The notice shall be kept posted for ten (10) working days in such places as the Dispatch Center and in the sheds and on the M.E.A.’s website.
