Professional Growth Program. There shall be a Professional Growth Program in place for all classified employees. Professional Growth is an organized activity designed to improve performance of employees in the classified service and to provide training for employees to gain new skills and abilities, to broaden their opportunity for promotion, to engage in study and related activities designed to retain and extend the high standards of the classified employee.
Professional Growth Program. It shall be the policy of the Board of Trustees to encourage continued and active participation on the part of all classified employees in professional growth activities designed to improve service to the District. Professional Growth activities may be District-sponsored activities held outside of regular assignment and educational activities of other agencies. Credit for participation in these activities shall be reflected in an earned professional growth increment as approved by the Board.
Professional Growth Program. All unit members are eligible to make application to the Professional Growth Program. 24.1 A. A professional growth increment, equivalent to five percent (5%), shall be granted when a unit member has accumulated twelve (12) semester units.
Professional Growth Program. 9.6.1 A Professional Growth Differential of 2.5% will be paid on the employee’s total compensation including all differentials, for each 15 semester units earned, up to a maximum of 60 units. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary within this Agreement, an employee may participate only once in the professional Growth Program to the maximum units allowable under the expressed terms of this Agreement. 9.6.2 One (1) unit equals fifteen (15) class hours of approved learning activities. 9.6.3 Fifteen (15) units equals two hundred twenty-five (225) class hours.

Professional Growth Program. 1. The Professional Growth Program shall be available on a voluntary basis for all certificated employees. This plan is designed to encourage professional growth through employee self- assessment and goal setting in cooperative discussions and collegial planning with the supervising administrator. 2. The certificated employee shall complete annual self-assessment that includes the setting of individual goals and the outline of a plan for accomplishing them. One or more of the following sources of information shall be used by the employee in developing a Professional Growth Program: a. Peer review and evaluation; b. Input by parents; c. Input by students; d. Personal and/or professional goals; e. District goals; f. Building goals; g. Self-assessment; h. Personal academic records; i. District evaluations. 3. Materials/records/portfolios expressly developed as a result of the individual’s participation in the Professional Growth Program shall be the property of the certificated employee participating in the program and shall not be retained in the employee’s personnel file or used by the District in its formal evaluation criteria.
Professional Growth Program. A. Eligibility All permanent classified employees are eligible to enter the Professional Growth Program. B. Review Committee A Professional Growth Review Committee shall be established. The composition of this committee shall be as follows: 1. Three (3) classified employees selected by CSEA, representing three of the four following classifications: Clerical, Custodial/Transportation, Food Services, Instructional Aides. 2. Two (2) employees appointed by the Superintendent. The Superintendent will appoint the chairman of this committee. The duties of the committee shall include: a) Hear and decide appeals for professional growth credit denied by the Superintendent. b) Recommending additional or revised professional growth policy. C. Criteria for Professional Growth Credit Professional growth credits may be achieved through participation in any of the following activities: 1. Credit may be earned by taking courses at universities, colleges, junior colleges, trade schools, or adult school, or through an accredited correspondence school. It is anticipated that coursework will either be related to improvement of job performance in the position occupied by the employee, or to meeting the requirements of a position in the District to which the employee aspires. Examples of approved courses for each area of work are provided in the attached list (Appendix B). Other courses may be acceptable with the Superintendent's approval. Courses must be completed with a passing grade of C or better to receive credit. One professional growth credit will be awarded for each semester unit earned and 2/3 of a professional growth credit will be awarded for each quarter unit. Credit can not be obtained for courses attended during the employee's regular working hours or if the district is paying course tuition. 2. Credit may be earned with the Superintendent's approval by attendance at an appropriate workshop or conference. The workshop or conference must be designed for an exchange of ideas, the presentation and discussion of information, practical methods and skills for improving employee on-the-job performance. Credit for workshops and conferences shall be applied to this program at the rate of one professional growth credit for each eight hours of attendance. Professional Growth Program. The Professional Growth Program is a form of personal evaluation in which the emphasis is on enhancements and improvements in job related skills, techniques, and abilities. The employee, with the aid of his/her supervisor, shall seek to develop a professional growth plan. The plan can cover up to a two (2) year period while the employee is on the short form process. The employee is encouraged to set goals as a part of the plan. The professional growth activity conducted by a certificated classroom teacher shall be specifically linked to one or more of the certificated classroom teacher evaluation criteria. One (1) or more of the following sources of information shall be used by the employee in developing a professional growth plan: 1. Peer review and evaluation; 2. Input by parents; 3. Input by students; 4. Personal and/or professional goals; 5. School district goals; 6. Building goals; 7. Self-assessment; 8. Personal academic records; and 9. School district observations and evaluations. The role of the supervisor is to assist the employee in developing the professional growth plan and then to assist in its implementation, particularly by making reasonable efforts to provide the resources necessary to implement it. The In-Service Committee (Section 9.04) shall serve as the Professional Growth Committee (as provided in WAC 392-192) and shall seek to enhance the District's professional growth program, particularly by linking identified professional needs with appropriate in-service, staff development, and other appropriate professional growth and instructional improvement opportunities. Materials/records/portfolios expressly developed as a result of the individual's participation in the professional growth program shall be the property of the certificated staff member participating in the program and shall not be retained in the employee's personnel file or used by the District in its formal evaluation criteria.
Professional Growth Program. Salary credit for professional growth activities completed outside of work hours and at no cost to the District may be earned if the course is determined to significantly improve the employee's potential contribution to the District. 17.11.1.1 Units shall be completed at an accredited institution, workshop, or at another approved equivalent learning activity. 17.11.1.2 Salary credit for periodic in-service activities provided by the District and completed outside of work hours may be earned if the course is determined to significantly improve the employee’s potential contribution to the District. 17.11.1.3 Units shall be approved in advance by the Superintendent/President, using the Classified Request for Professional Growth form. 17.11.1.4 Units shall, in the judgment of the Superintendent/President, be designed to increase the skills of the employee beyond the minimum requirements for the assigned job as defined in the employee's job description and significantly improve the employee’s potential contribution to the District.
Professional Growth Program. 1. The Board shall maintain a Professional Growth program for appropriate additional study. 2. Teachers may elect to participate in the program by obtaining advance approval of the Superintendent who will base approval upon the appropriateness of the course work for which compensation is being requested. 3. During the school year, compensation shall be within thirty (30) days of proof of satisfactory completion and documentation of the cost of the approved course. 4. Satisfactory completion for reimbursement shall mean that the teacher receives at least a "B" in the course or pass in a course when pass/fail is the only grading method.
