Union Shop Stewards. A Union party to this Agreement may appoint a shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ in the various City departments affected by this Agreement. Immediately after appointment of its shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇(s), each Union must furnish the Seattle Department of Human Resources and the affected Department(s) with a list of those employees who have been designated as shop stewards and their area of responsibility. Failure to provide such a list and/or disagreement over the number and/or area of responsibility of shop stewards between the City and a Union covered by this Agreement shall result in non-recognition by the City of the appointed shop stewards in question. The City must notify the affected Union within fifteen (15) calendar days of receipt of the Union's list or revised list if it objects to the number and/or area of responsibility of appointed shop stewards. Where there is a disagreement over the number and/or area of responsibility of appointed shop stewards, said issues shall be discussed between the City and the affected Union. If the parties cannot mutually resolve their differences, the issues shall be submitted to the Labor-Management Committee for final resolution. The list shall also be updated as needed. Shop stewards shall perform their regular duties as such but shall function as the Union's representative on the job solely to inform the Union of any alleged violations of this Agreement and process grievances relating thereto; provided however, temporary employees may serve as shop stewards to inform the Union of any alleged violations of this Agreement that apply to temporary employees only and may process grievances relating thereto. The shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be allowed reasonable time, at the discretion of the City, to process contract grievances during regular working hours.
14.5.1 Shop stewards shall not be discriminated against for making a complaint or giving evidence with respect to an alleged violation of any provision of this Agreement, but under no circumstances shall shop stewards interfere with orders of the Employer or change working conditions.

Union Shop Stewards. 17.01 The Company agrees to recognize all Union Shop Stewards appointed and/or elected by the Union to represent employees in the bargaining unit for the purpose of overseeing and ensuring that the terms of the Collective Agreement are being implemented and for the purpose of presenting complaints and/or grievances to management. The Company agrees to grant time off with pay, as may be reasonably necessary, to Union Stewards for the purpose of investigating or servicing any grievances or potential grievances on the Company's premises during normal working hours.

Union Shop Stewards. Union Shop Stewards are available to any Grievant. The representative chosen by the Grievant has the right to be present for any meetings, hearing, appeals, or proceedings and will receive copies of documentation and correspondence regarding the grievance at the written request of the Grievant. If a Grievant chooses not to be represented by a Union Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, the Union may ask the Grievant to sign and date a waiver stating they forfeit their right to representation and a copy will be retained by the Local 6553 President.
Union Shop Stewards. A. Periodically, the Union will notify the Employer in writing the names of duly authorized Union Shop Stewards.
B. The Employer agrees that there will be no discrimination against the Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ because of Union activity.
C. Shop Stewards will obtain permission from their immediate supervisor before leaving their work area to conduct Union business. Stewards shall not lose pay because of their participation in activities related to grievances, investigations or disciplinary meetings.

17.02 Shop Stewards will be allowed to wear Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ badges while on duty.
Union Shop Stewards. (a) Recognition of Shop Stewards. From among the employees employed in the Bargaining Unit, the Union may designate and the Company will recognize the des- ignated shop stewards to serve as the Union's agent in the representation of employees of the Bargaining Unit
Union Shop Stewards. The Employer agrees to recognize up to eight (8) local Union Shop Stewards to be elected or appointed from amongst the bargaining unit employees, at each Blood Service Centre, with at least one (1) from each of the following employee groups: one (1) Clinic Assistant, one (1) Phlebotomist, one (1) Driver, one (1) Donor Services Representative, one (1) Clerical Staff (including Administrative Assistants, Clerks and Data Entry Clerks), and one (1) Laboratory Assistant for the purpose of dealing with grievances as provided under this Collective Agreement.
Union Shop Stewards. (a) The Union shall provide, in writing, the names of a maximum of three (3) designated Union stewards and two (2) alternate stewards, and shall notify the Employer, in writing, of any changes as they occur. The Union may designate one (1) ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ as Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. Prior to the Employer’s receipt of such Union designation, the Employer is not obligated to recognize a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ under this Article.
(b) The functions of the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ include the authority (1) to settle or assist in settling problems arising in connection with the application or interpretation of the agreement; (2) to resolve grievance at Step 1 or 2 of the grievance procedure; and, (3) at an employee’s request, serve as a Union representative at investigatory interviews which may be used as the basis of discipline.
(c) Union stewards shall perform their functions or Union related activities on their own time. However, if a meeting is mutually agreed to with the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ during the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ work shift, that time will be paid for by the Employer. If the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ wishes to schedule a meeting with an employee during the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ work shift, unpaid release time shall be granted subject to patient care and business requirements shall not be unreasonably denied.
(d) Union stewards shall not direct any employee how to perform or not perform his/her work, shall not countermand the order of any supervisor, and shall not interfere with the normal operations of the Employer or any other employee.
(e) With reasonable notice, the Employer’s designated representative will meet with a maximum of two (2) Union representatives, one (1) Union Organizer and/or one
(1) Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and any affected employee on any grievance or issue concerning this Agreement. If additional employee(s) or Union representatives have firsthand facts to present as a witness concerning the Union’s grievance issue, however, then such additional person(s) also may attend, by prior mutual agreement with the Employer at the time the meeting is set.
(f) Upon three (3) weeks advance written request and subject to staffing and scheduling needs, the Employer will provide up to five (5) days without pay per calendar year to a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ for the purpose of participating in Union educational programs.
(g) Time spent attending arbitration hearings by shop stewards, grievant and witnesses called by the Union shall be unpaid.
