The Common Interest Forum clause establishes a mechanism for parties to collaborate and share information regarding matters of mutual legal or strategic interest. Common Interest Forum. 8.1 The Company and the Union share a mutual commitment to the achievement of strategic and revenue growth objectives consistent with the Dex One Service, Inc. Strategic Plan and the interests of the employees. 8.2 One Union representative (who is also an active employee of the Company) may be excused from work with pay, based on the needs of the business, to attend a Common Interest Forum or other such joint conferences initiated by management and mutually agreed to in advance as such. 8.2.1 Pay treatment will be in the same manner as other absences that are excused with pay, e.g., a vacation day, for a maximum of eight (8) hours per session. 8.2.2 If more than one Union representative is excused from work for participation, such representative shall be unpaid unless the Director-Labor Relations or the Director-Human Resources has agreed in advance.

Common Interest Forum. A. Recognizing that rapid changes are occurring and will continue to occur in the information and telecommunications businesses, the parties express their intent that a forum of common interest will be established in the Company for the following purposes: 1. Discussing and reviewing innovative approaches to enhance the competitiveness of the Company and improve employment security; 3. Improving understanding and relationships between the parties and avoiding unnecessary disputes by cooperatively addressing significant changes and developments in the Union or Company environment. B. Equal numbers of key Union and Management persons shall constitute the forum in the Company. Meetings will be convened by the parties at mutually agreeable places and times but no less often than semi-annually. Otherwise, the members of the forum shall determine its composition, structure, agenda, and operation. C. It is the intent that such forum supports the collective bargaining process, the established contractual dispute resolution procedures, and the existing joint Union-Management committees.
Common Interest Forum. The Companies, the CWA and the IBEW mutually believe that it would be beneficial for the parties to engage in periodic discussions regarding the state of the business and workplace issues of mutual concern. Accordingly, as a result of the 2011 negotiations, the Companies and the unions will establish a separate Common Interest Forum (“CIF”) for Pennsylvania/Delaware Commercial, Pennsylvania/Delaware Plant, New Jersey CWA, New Jersey IBEW and the Potomac region to facilitate such discussions. The Pennsylvania/Delaware Commercial CIF will consist of no more than ten union and ten management representatives. The Pennsylvania/Delaware Plant CIF will consist of no more than ten union representatives and ten management representatives. The New Jersey CWA CIF will consist of no more than eight CWA representatives and no more than eight management representatives. The New Jersey IBEW CIF will consist of no more than six IBEW representatives and six management representatives. The Potomac CIF will consist of no more than six union representatives and six management representatives. The unions’ representatives will be selected by the unions in their sole discretion. A CWA National Union representative, or the designee of the IBEW Business Manager/President, will attend meetings, but will not be counted against the allotment of union representatives. The management representatives will be selected by the Companies in their sole discretion, but will include at least one Labor Relations Director, one Vice President with responsibility for operations and one Director with responsibility for operations. The CIF will meet twice a year, at mutually agreeable times and places. The parties will set an agenda in advance of each meeting. Discuss and review innovative approaches to equip the Company to maintain thehighest levels of excellence and success in the face of rapidly increasing competition in both traditional and newly emerging telecommunications markets thereby improving employees’ competitive responsiveness. c.) Improve understanding of and relationships between the parties and thereby avoid unnecessary disputes by cooperatively addressing significant changes and developments in both the Union and Company environments. d.) It is anticipated that Management members of the Forum will include Managementwith operations responsibilities. Union members of the Forum will include a IBEW Staff Representative and Local Officers whose positions within the IBEW influence a broad range of responsibilities. It is intended that each Forum support the collective bargaining process, the established contracted dispute resolution procedures and any other joint committee. Common Interest Forum. (a) A Common Interest Forum shall be created which will meet at least quarterly, to consider methods of improving working conditions, productivity and cost saving procedures. This committee will also be used as a clearing house for the exchange of information between the employer and the Union regarding planned actions or changes and their effects on represented employees, and as a forum to seek mutually acceptable ways of implementation, which enhance the employer’s ability to grow, improve client service, and improve its competitiveness. (b) The committee shall consist of five (5) Union and five (5) Employer representatives one of which shall be the Director of Human Resources of the Hospital and one the Local Union’s Business Agent or their designee.

Establishment The parties agree to establish a Common Interest Forum for the purpose of ensuring communications between staff and management, to discuss and review ideas, and to avoid unnecessary disputes. The Common Interest Forum shall consist of three members of management appointed by the Library Director and three members of the bargaining unit appointed by the Union President.
