FLEXIBLE SHIFTS Clause Samples

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. (1) Flexible schedules have a minimum of four guaranteed hours per day and 20 hours per week, but may be increased up to eight paid hours per day (40 paid hours per week) with a minimum of five calendar days advance notice. (2) Once a flexible shift has been increased, the hours may also be decreased with five calendar days advance notice provided the hours do not fall below the guaranteed four hours per day (20 hours per week) minimum. (3) If the required reduction of hours will result in the employee having fewer than four per day (20 hours per week), notice of layoff will be issued. (4) Postings for flexible shifts will contain the current hours of the position and clearly state the hours may fluctuate between four guaranteed hours per day (20 hours per week) and eight hours per day (40 hours per week).

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. Employees shall have regular starting and ending times, which may be changed without notice, during a period of emergency as determined in the sole discretion of management. Outside of emergency periods, the City may adjust starting times by up to one (1) hour before or after current starting times. No change will be implemented until after 45 days’ notice to the Union.

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. ‌ The length of shifts can be modified to six (6) hours by mutual agreement to meet the needs of the service and enable nurses to work flexibly and provide a more responsive staffing structure. The parties are working to introduce rosters that minimise shift overlap, where clinically appropriate on weekends and public holidays.

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. 8.6.1 Flex work schedules providing for other than eight (8), ten (10), or twelve (12) hours per day may be proposed by the nurse, the Employer or the Union. 8.6.2 The flex shift schedule shall be in writing, identifying area, hours, and FTE of the schedule to be worked. This shall be given to the Union for review and comment prior to posting. 8.6.3 The normal work period for a flex shift shall be forty (40) hours per week. A nurse shall be paid at the premium rate of time and one-half (1½) the base rate of pay for all hours worked over the proposed daily shift and at time and one-half (1½) the regular rate of pay over forty (40) hours per week. 8.6.4 If the needs of the organization change, a flex schedule may be discontinued by the Employer with the nurse being returned to his/her original shift with thirty (30) days’ notice. The Employer will make a good faith effort to maintain the nurse’s FTE or, if not possible, to minimize the change in the FTE if the flexible shift is eliminated, unless a reduced or increased FTE is requested by the nurse as a result of this schedule change.

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. The parties hereto agree to flexible shifts to accommodate:  Scheduled maintenance;  Scheduled capital work; and  Removal of built up snow in the downtown area. Assignment of employees for flexible shift times shall be undertaken:  First on a volunteer basis, provided employees retain required certifications for the scheduled work; and,  Second, by seniority of qualified employees.

FLEXIBLE SHIFTS. The parties may agree to the hours of work provisions by the negotiation of flexible hours or extended arrangements. Flexible hour or extended shift arrangements which have been negotiated on behalf of members will continue until negotiated otherwise or terminated under the terms of the original agreement.
