Force Account Change Orders Sample Clauses

The Force Account Change Orders clause establishes a process for handling changes to a contract when the scope or nature of the work cannot be precisely determined in advance. Under this clause, the contractor is typically directed to perform additional or modified work on a time-and-materials basis, with compensation calculated based on actual labor, equipment, and material costs plus an agreed markup. This approach is commonly used when unforeseen conditions arise or when the exact cost and quantity of work cannot be estimated beforehand. The core function of this clause is to provide a fair and flexible method for compensating contractors for extra work, ensuring that necessary changes can proceed without delay while maintaining transparency and accountability in cost tracking.
