Granting of Tenure. Tenure shall be granted when there is consistent evidence of meeting the required academic performance standard, demonstrated professional growth, and the promise of future development. The criteria for tenure shall be in accordance with Articles 6.10.2 and 6.10.3 are: (a) Satisfactory record as a Teacher or in Professional Role, as measured against standards approved by Senate; (b) Satisfactory record of Scholarship, as measured against standards approved by Senate; (c) Satisfactory record of Service, as measured against standards approved by Senate.
Granting of Tenure. No employment recommendation will be made in the third year of employment.
Granting of Tenure. (a) By the end of six years of continuous full-time, or equivalent part-time service in a tenure-earning position in the University, a Faculty employee shall be nominated for tenure or given notice that further employment will not be offered, in the affected position with reason(s) why the employee was not nominated for tenure. (b) Upon nomination by the President, and approval by the BOT, tenure shall be granted. The effective date of tenure shall be acted upon with careful consideration being given to the qualifications of the faculty employee, including evaluation by colleagues and the immediate supervisor. In making judgments pertaining to the decision to award tenure, evaluation of research and other creative activities by qualified scholars in pertinent disciplines both within and outside the University should be sought. When one of the duties of the faculty employee being nominated is teaching, the quality of the faculty employee’s teaching shall be gauged by the standards outlined in this regulation, the BOT/UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement, as well as Regulation 10.119 which governs faculty evaluation and the approved criteria of the appropriate academic department/unit. (c) With sufficient justification, an employee may be nominated by the President, and approved by the BOT for tenure at the time of initial appointment or prior to the fifth year of tenure earning service. The President or President’s designee shall consider the recommendation of the department or equivalent unit prior to making his/her tenure nomination.
Granting of Tenure. The granting of tenure to a non-tenured faculty member who is completing the third consecutive year of full-time employment shall be governed by the following: 1. Military leaves, maternity leaves, disability leaves, or general leaves of absence shall not be considered eligible to fulfill any part of the three- (3) or four- (4) year probationary requirement. 2. The tenured faculty members of a division shall vote on whether to grant or deny tenure to the eligible faculty member. The tenured members, excluding the division chairperson, will then vote via secret ballot whether to grant or deny tenure to the eligible faculty member. The votes are to be tabulated and announced in that division meeting. Results are to be forwarded to the appropriate Vice President. In making this decision, tenured members of the division will be allowed to use the following tools to evaluate the non-tenured faculty member’s performance: a. Past student evaluations of the non-tenured instructor. (Not to include student evaluations of courses for which a grade has yet to be assigned.) b. Syllabi and/or course outlines prepared by non-tenured faculty members for courses they have taught. c. Tenured faculty members of the division also have the option to observe non-tenured faculty members in a classroom setting provided the following conditions are met: 1) The tenured faculty member has informed the division chair of his/her interest in observing a non-tenured faculty member in the performance of their classroom duties. 2) Having informed the division chair of his/her interest the tenured faculty member and the non-tenured faculty member shall mutually agree upon a date the visit is to be made before any visitation is made. Purpose of said visitation is solely to observe the classroom teaching competency of the non-tenured faculty member. 3) Outcome of said observation is strictly confidential and is to be used by the observer only as a measure of the non- tenured faculty member’s classroom teaching competence. d. Other materials provided by the non tenured faculty member to tenured members of the division for evaluation purposes. 3. The evaluator will provide a written recommendation to the appropriate Vice President for granting or denying tenure to the eligible faculty member. The results of the evaluation form (See Appendix C) forms, student evaluations, and the voting results of the Department’s tenure vote should be the three primary tools used in the tenure decision process...
Granting of Tenure. 10.2.1 On or before forty (40) school days prior to the expiration of the probationary term of the members of the teaching staff, the Superintendent shall make a written report to the Board of Education recommending for appointment on tenure, from lists and reports furnished by the building principals, those legally certificated teachers who have been found competent, efficient and satisfactory. If found competent, efficient, satisfactory, and legally certificated, the teacher shall be recommended by the Superintendent to the Board of Education for appointment on tenure. 10.2.2 By a majority vote, the Board of Education may then appoint on tenure any or all of the persons recommended by the Superintendent.
