HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. The regular work hours for full-time employees of the Highway Department are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day. The regular work hours for full-time employees of the Highway Department whose job duties are Clerical or Office Personnel are 7:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. During the winter season, (November 1 through April 30), Highway department employees who are called in for emergency work shall be paid the appropriate overtime rate from the time that they are called. Employees must report within a reasonable time after being called to be eligible for the call-in pay.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. To those titled employees presently receiving boots, the County shall provide a $100 boot allowance as soon as practicable after the signing of this agreement and prior to April 1 of each year of the successor years of this agreement. The type of boot shall be at the sole discretion of the County. If an individual presents a doctor’s note indicating that he is not medically able to wear said boot, the County at its sole discretion may substitute footwear. Employees in the title of Supervising Mechanic, Assistant Supervising Mechanic, Mechanic and Mechanic’s Helper shall receive a bi-annual tool allowance of $150 for calendar years 2004 and 2006. Vouchers must be submitted for a minimum of $50.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. Requests for sick leave must be reported to the Department Head one (1) hour prior to the employee's scheduled reporting hours for work, if possible.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. Southampton Town’s Highway Department has been diligently addressing the many needs of the community. Several projects throughout the Town are nearing completion, including: widening Shinnecock Road to create a multi-use lane, enhancing pedestrian safety; new sidewalks installed on Lighthouse Road to facilitate safe passage to Ponquogue Bridge; a right turn lane constructed at the intersection of Lower 7 Pond and Head of Ponds Roads in Water Mill; and a sidewalk added in front of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇- ▇▇▇▇ Post Office and Remsenburg Academy to enhance safety in the area. The Highway Department is also diligently focused on clearing overgrown drainage easements and replacing damaged drainpipes.
HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. 11.2.1 From the first full work week in May up to, but not including, the first full week in November, employees shall work ten (10) hours per day, including a one-half (1/2) hour meal period four (4) days per week - Monday through Thursday. 11.2.2 From the first full work week in November up to, but not including, the first full work week in May, employees shall work eight (8) hours per day, including a one-half (1/2) hour meal period, five (5) days per week - Monday through Friday.

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. 48.1 Except in emergency situations, employees will be given at least 48 hours’ notice of the cancellation of special volunteer work assignments that would alter their existing work schedules. 48.2 The in-Town/out-of-Town status of Highway employees will only be revealed on time-off request slips between November 15 and April 15 o f any given year. This recall information will in no way be used as a basis for approving or denying the time. 48.3 During an emergency call-out, the Highway Superintendent will not unreasonably withhold his/her consent to the employees’ use of the Town Recreation Center during designated rest periods.
