LEAVE DAYS WITH PAY. 8.01 Two (2) leave days (16 hours), with pay, shall be granted annually to each full- time employee on the employment rolls as of July 1. Each full-time, continuous employee who is hired after the beginning of the fiscal year shall be credited with two (2) leave days with pay or a fractional amount thereof as follows: July through December 16 hours January through March 8 hours April through May 4 hours June 0 hours Secretaries working less than eight (8) hours per day shall be entitled to a pro-rata share of leave days with pay granted to full-time employees. 8.02 The leave days with pay, or fraction thereof, credited to each full-time, continuous employee shall be utilized and charged to the employee in increments of not less than one (1) full hours. Employees utilizing a leave day with pay shall be charged a minimum of one (1) hour leave time for each chargeable event. Furthermore, time used beyond one (1) hour shall be charged as actually used rounded to the nearest quarter hour. Thus, by way of example, an employee utilizing 2-1/2 hours shall be charged 2-1/2 hours; and an employee using 5 hours and 10 minutes leave time shall be charged 5 hours and 15 minutes. 8.03 The leave days with pay, or any fraction thereof, shall not be utilized during an absence for sick leave, or during any other leave of absence. 8.04 An employee taking a leave day with pay shall file a notice of the intent to take such day with the secretary's immediate supervisor at least three (3) days prior to the date of such leave (except in the case of emergency*). Such notice shall include a statement of the reason for such leave. 8.05 a. Leave day with pay shall not be used for: 1. Recreational pursuits, shopping or pleasure trip with spouse (including accompanying spouse on business trip). 2. Other employment or seeking new employment. 3. Child care, except for time associated with taking children to appointments during the business day that are not covered by section 4. Any other leave provision in this Agreement.

In cases of emergency*, the District may allow use of leave days with pay time for periods of less than two (2) full hours, rounded to the nearest quarter hour. The leave days with pay, or any fraction thereof, shall not be utilized during an absence for sick leave, or during any other leave of absence. LEAVE DAYS WITH PAY. A. Bargaining unit members will be allowed one-day sick leave per month plus two days for business leave per year which, if not used, will be added to their individual sick leave bank accumulative to 120 days. An employee absent from duty due to disability covered by the sick leave policy, shall be paid full salary for a period of said absence not to exceed the allowed time in any one year, except when additional time has been accumulated. All employees absent due to the illness of members of their families may choose to deduct those days from their sick leave. Family is defined as father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, child or member of the immediate household residence. Absence due to extremely serious illness of parent-in-law or grandparents also may be deducted from these days, if the employee chooses.

LEAVE DAYS WITH PAY. (a) The number of “personal” paid leave days will be three (3) per year. Personal days will be granted without explanation on the office record form, filed with the principal. These days are not to be deducted from sick leave. No more than four (4) teachers may take “personal” days before or after a vacation or legal holiday. Each teacher is limited to one (1) “personal” day before or after a holiday or vacation during a school year. If, two (2) weeks before a given holiday or vacation, four (4) teachers have not applied to use their days, another teacher who has already used a day before or after a vacation may then apply. Unused “personal” days shall accumulate as sick days. Personal days may not be taken on Teacher Institute Days or Parent Conference Days. All teachers are expected to be in attendance on these days. Teachers who do not use an available “personal” day during the final 20 student contact days have the following options:  to be compensated for one “personal” day at the prevailing regular substitute daily rate, or  have the remaining ”no excuse” day(s) added to accumulated sick leave

  • Leaves With Pay Employees may be granted the following types of paid leaves of absence:

  • Leave With Pay Compassionate leave of absence with pay shall be granted for three (3) work days. Up to two (2) additional days with pay shall be granted for travelling time when this is warranted in the judgement of the Employer.

  • VACATIONS WITH PAY 14.01 An Employee shall be granted, except as otherwise expressly provided herein, an annual vacation with pay according to their aggregate credited service as follows: Years of Service Vacation Entitlement Weeks Days 14.02 All vacations granted shall be considered to start on a Sunday Morning. A weeks' vacation shall mean a calendar week of seven (7) days with five (5) days' pay. Each day's pay shall be calculated at eight (8) hours straight time based on the daily rate of pay in effect at the time the vacation is taken. 14.03 Notwithstanding the schedule of vacation leave noted in Article 14.01, an Employee, who has been granted and taken vacation leave and terminates their employment with the Employer before the anniversary date when the Employee commenced work, shall have the unearned portion of vacation leave deducted from their termination pay as per Article 14.8. 14.04 All vacations granted in any year shall be determined on the basis of the aggregate credited service of the Employee. Service is calculated on the basis of regular hours worked, and also includes any period or periods of paid absence due to sickness (certified by a medical practitioner), bereavement, jury duty, accident while on duty, maternity/parental/adoptive leave or leave of absence for Union business. All other periods of absence, other than those noted above, will reduce an Employee's vacation entitlement in the same proportion as the factor by which the period of absence relates to the full calendar year. 14.05 Employees will be given an opportunity, based on seniority within their section or work unit, as per Article 19.01, to bid for the vacations with pay to which they are entitled. Employees will not be permitted to exchange vacations, alter the dates after selection has been made, nor extend the vacation period except in special cases. Blocks for vacation in the Operations Division in a given year will be first posted for sign-up not later than October 15th of the preceding year, provisional sign-up to be completed by one (1) calendar month later. The vacation blocks posted for the ten (10) week summer period will be a minimum of nine-percent (9%) of full-time permanent Operators that exist on the 1st day of the month of September of the preceding vacation year. Operator Employees will bid within the blocks available as posted by the City (HSR) according to rotating seniority lists devised by Local Union 107 and agreed to by the City (HSR). Garage and Maintenance Employees will bid on a seniority basis within their own units and within blocks throughout the year available as posted by the City (HSR). Blocks for vacation in the Administrative Section, a given year will be first posted for sign-up not later than October 15th of the preceding year, provisional sign-up to be completed by one calendar month later. It is agreed that the current guidelines will be amended to allow a minimum of three (3) Inspectors off on vacation at any one time during the peak vacation periods. These periods are defined as two (2) weeks at Christmas, one (1) week during the March break and the Summer Board, which is a period of ten (10) weeks. If the number of Inspectors is increased to seventeen (17) or more, a minimum of four (4) Inspectors will be allowed off on vacation at any one (1) time during the peak vacation periods. An employee will be allowed to sign one (1) week of their vacation entitlement as five (5) single days. Blocks for vacation in the Maintenance division, a given year will first be posted for sign-up not later than December 1st of the preceding year, with a view to having the sign-up completed by January 31st. Requests for vacation during January of the vacation year must be submitted to the Manager of Fleet Maintenance, in writing, prior to December 1st of the preceding year. It is further agreed that no unit will be completely vacated. An employee will be allowed to sign one (1) week of their vacation entitlement as five (5) single days.   • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother or ▇▇▇▇▇▇ parent), grandparent, brother, sister, spouse including common-law spouse residing with the employee), child (including child of common-law spouse or adopted child), stepchild or ▇▇▇▇ of the employee, grandchild, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides and/or traditional Gitxsan affiliations as determined by the administrator in consultation with tribal elder. A) When a member of his/her immediate family dies, an employee: i) shall be entitled to a bereavement period of five (5) consecutive calendar days which does not extend beyond the day following the day of the funeral. During such period he shall be paid for those days which are not regularly scheduled days of rest for that employee; ii) in addition, the employee may be granted up to three (3) days leave with pay for the purpose of travel related to the death. B) In special circumstances and at the request of the employee, the fourth (4th) day bereavement period may be moved beyond the day following the day of the funeral but must include the day of the funeral. C) It is recognized by the parties that the circumstances which call for leave in respect of bereavement are based on individual circumstances. On request, the Employer may, after considering the particular circumstances involved, grant leave with pay for a period greater than that provided for in Article 14.02(A)(i) and (C) – Bereavement Leave with Pay. D) An employee is entitled to up to fourteen (14) hours bereavement leave per year with pay to attend or participate at a funeral of a person that is not immediate family, subject to operational requirements.
