Length of Workday. The employees' workday shall be seven and one- half (7 1/2) consecutive hours, including the lunch period. The normal teaching load for assigned classes shall not exceed a daily average of 300 minutes. Those teachers who teach 360 minutes shall have a workday of no longer than eight and one-half (8 1/2) hours. If a four (4) day work week is implemented, this schedule may be compressed into that period. Said compression shall not result in the reduction of salary or benefits.

Employees shall be considered in their schedules, by their principals, for a brief relief period both morning and afternoon and provisions for preparation time. In situations which necessitate the shortening of the school day (i.e. inclement weather and/or hazardous road conditions, etc.) all employees will be expected to report to work as soon as possible. It shall be the responsibility of each employee to contact his/her immediate supervisor as early as possible if the employee will be late for the employee scheduled start of school. On Fridays and all days before holidays, teachers will be allowed to leave the school building fifteen (15) minutes before established employee dismissal time. Preparation time shall be during the regular student instruction day when specialists such as music, P.E., library, etc., are instructing the teacher’s class or other duty-free time. Preparation time shall not be less than 160 minutes per week. (This provision shall be contingent on levy approval for the following year). All Full-time equivalent grades 6-8 teachers shall be granted one (1) class period a day for the purpose of preparation and evaluation. An exception to this condition will be schedules which have been altered for school activities. (This provision shall be contingent on levy approval for the following year.) All Full-time equivalent grades 9-12 teachers shall be granted weekly prep equal to the amount of one period a day for the purpose of preparation and evaluation. Duty hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the North Platte School District in terms of: parent/teacher conferences, inservice activities, staff meetings, and professional development activities. All staff members are required to comply with duty hours unless excused by the building principal.

Length of Workday. Each job sharer will work one-half (1/2) of the workday as per Article XIX.

A teacher may leave the building during the school day if s/he signs out in the main office and leaves only during an unscheduled period or lunch period and notifies his/her supervisor. Length of Workday. 15.1.1 The professional work day shall include but shall not be limited to the student day, professional development time, staff meetings, preparation time, parent and student conferences, and IEP, 504 and Student Study Team meetings, Back to School Night, and student supervision. Normally, the required on site work day will average seven hours, inclusive of a ½ hour duty free lunch. 15.1.2 Teachers shall be present no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the normal school day hours and shall remain at least 5 minutes after the final class is dismissed, provided that teachers may be required to remain on site beyond these times when required to perform the duties in Section 15.1.1. For teachers with verified/documented child care/Family responsibilities that may prevent them from arriving 30 minutes prior to the start of school, this arrival time may be adjusted with supervisor consent. At no time shall an adjusted arrival time be later than 15 minutes prior to the start of classes. Any work time missed through an adjusted arrival time will be made up at times mutually agreeable to member and supervisor. 15.1.3 On school days when there are no conservatory classes scheduled, administration shall make a good faith effort to avoid scheduling meetings which will prevent teachers from utilizing this time to work in their classrooms. This access may be adjusted as master calendar activities and facility use related to conservatory needs allow.
Length of Workday. 6.1.1 Each contract day for unit members shall begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m. 6.1.1.1 Within the contract day, each unit member shall be provided one 45-minute, duty-free lunch period. 6.1.1.2 In cases of seriously inclement weather, the district may ask teachers to provide supervision for up to fifteen (15) minutes of the lunch period. This supervision shall be assigned according to Article 6.1.1.3 A teacher may leave the school premises after 3:00 p.m. with the approval of the site principal or designee for medical appointments for themselves or immediate family members or to attend classes for professional growth. Unit members will make every effort not to schedule appointments so as to require them to leave the school site before 3:00. 6.1.2 Unit members shall not be required to work on weekends without pay. The district shall make every effort to ensure that non-paid evening duties conclude by 8:30 p.m. 6.1.3 In addition to the above workday, unit members are responsible for other duties which include, but are not limited to, program development, professional growth activities, parent conferences, committee assignments, faculty and district meetings, special help to student(s), Back-to-School nights, student supervision, Winter Program, Open House and other assignments and professional responsibilities which are determined by management to be necessary for the efficient operation of the district. 6.1.3.1 The District will make a reasonable effort to consult with unit members prior to scheduling conferences with parents outside of the workday set forth in section 6.1.1 6.1.4 Staff/faculty meetings may be scheduled approximately twice monthly. 6.1.4.1 A tentative schedule of meetings shall be established at the beginning of each semester. 6.1.4.2 Staff input on agenda items shall be included and a printed agenda shall be made available to staff. 6.1.4.3 Every effort shall be made to conclude faculty meetings no later than 4:30p.m.
