Overtime on Day Off Sample Clauses
The "Overtime on Day Off" clause defines the rules and compensation for employees who are required to work on their scheduled days off. Typically, this clause specifies that such work is considered overtime and entitles the employee to a higher pay rate, such as time-and-a-half or double time, for hours worked on those days. It may also outline procedures for requesting or approving overtime on days off. The core function of this clause is to ensure fair compensation for employees who forgo their rest days, while providing clear guidelines for both employers and employees regarding work expectations and pay on days off.

Overtime on Day Off. (a) Where the Employer requires an employee to work on a scheduled day off, the employee will be entitled to overtime, but will not have the day off rescheduled. For greater certainty, this clause is not intended to apply to where the Employer has altered an employee’s scheduled workdays and an employee will not be entitled to both premium pay under Clause 15.3(d) and overtime under this clause.
(b) Despite (a) above, where the Employer and the employee agree in writing to a temporary schedule change (e.g., swapping a scheduled workday with a scheduled day off to accommodate a special event), the employee will not be entitled to overtime, except where weekly or daily overtime otherwise applies.
