Payroll Procedure. (a) Each employee shall elect in writing at the time s/he executes her/his individual salary agreement whether s/he wishes to be paid on a twenty-one (21) or twenty-six (26) payment schedule. Such election cannot be changed for the duration of the annual salary agreement. Gross salary payments shall be in equal amounts and made on alternate Fridays except if such days fall on a holiday then payments shall be made on the previous day. In the event an employee fails to make the election as specified above, s/he shall be paid on the twenty-one (21) payment schedule.
(b) Teachers on the twenty-six (26) payment schedule shall have the option of collecting all summer checks on the last pay date in June, provided said election is made at the time the individual salary agreement is executed as indicated in paragraph (a) above.
(c) The Board will petition the State Teacher's Retirement Board for permission to make twenty (20) bi-weekly retirement deductions. The Federation will assume responsibility for all shortages that may occur because of this procedure. The Federation will save and hold the Board harmless with respect to any loss which may occur.

Employees in their first year in the school district may elect to receive up to one-half (1/2) of their first month’s gross salary on the 15th day of September. No payroll deduction will be made on the first half payment; the total monthly payroll deduction will be taken from the last half payment of the September salary. Teachers electing this procedure for their first month payment shall notify the Business Office no later than the first Monday in September.

Paydays shall fall on the fifteenth (15th) and last day of each month; however, if the fifteenth (15th) or last day of a month shall fall on a weekend, holiday, or vacation period, such check shall be dated for and issued on the last working day prior thereto. The first payday of the school year shall be issued the last working day in August. All checks scheduled to be released during the summer months shall be dated for and distributed on the last day of school.

All teachers will then be paid bi-weekly with the final paycheck issued on the last day of school. The Board shall dispense the correct contractual salary amount to each member of the bargaining unit over twenty-six (26) or twenty-seven (27) equal pays, depending on the number of pays within the contract year. Payday shall be every other Friday. All paychecks shall be directly deposited into each bargaining unit member’s financial institution of choice (i.e., savings, checking, credit union, etc.). All paystubs will be available electronically at the beginning of each payday.
B. If an employee cannot access the electronic paystub, they may access it electronically at the school district.
C. Payment for supplemental contract stipends shall be made at the next regular payday following the completion of the activities of the supplemental contract provided the proper paperwork and approval has been submitted and received by the Treasurer’s office by the Friday before such pay.

Payroll Procedure.
13.1. Food Service Employees will receive pay checks in accordance with regular District payroll procedures in effect from time to time. District payroll procedures will provide for no less than two pay days per month. If any pay day falls on a school holiday, pay day will be the last working day prior to the holiday.
13.2. Any payroll adjustment, including overtime pay or docking, will be made in the regular check received the pay day following the pay day for the pay period in which the overtime was earned or the reason for docking occurred.
13.3. In case of termination of employment, any pay due at the time of termination will be given to the employee personally by the Supervisor or the Director of Food Service by the next regular pay day date or will be mailed by the next pay day date. If the employee wants the final check mailed, it will be the employee’s responsibility to furnish the payroll department an up-to-date address to which the check should be mailed.
13.4. All salaries are subject to withholdings as provided by law, plus other deductions requested by the employee (insurance, tax sheltered annuity, credit union, union dues, etc.), provided the plans are in effect in the district. Once each year, employees may authorize a payroll deduction for COPE (Campaign on Political Education). This authorization must be made in writing at least one month in advance of the payroll and state the amount to be withheld. The Union shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Board, its members, officers, agents and employees from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, complaints, suits, or other forms of liability or loss including, but not limited to, damages, attorneys’ fees, and costs that shall arise out of or by reason of action taken by the Board in reliance on any list, notice, certification, affidavit, or assignment furnished by the Union related to the deduction of union dues.
13.5. All salary adjustments, except those that come about as a result of moving to a classification offering a higher rate of pay, shall be made effective for the first pay period of the new school year.
13.6. Employees hired between July 1 and December 31 will advance on the salary schedule the following July 1. Employees hired between January 1 and June 30 will advance on the salary schedule July 1 of the following calendar year.
