POST Certificate Pay. Employees represented by the Association who possess a Supervisory or a Management P.O.S.T. certificate will receive annual certificate pay. Effective July 1, 2021, the employee will receive a $3,750 payment for a Supervisory P.O.S.T certificate or a $5,750 payment for a Management P.O.S.T. certificate. Effective July 1, 2022, the employee will receive a $4,000 payment for a Supervisory P.O.S.T certificate or a $6,000 payment for a Management P.O.S.T. certificate. Employees who have qualified and applied for their applicable P.O.S.T. certificate between July 1st and December 31st of the calendar year will receive their Certificate Pay on their normal paycheck within two pay periods following P.O.S.T.’s receipt of application. Employees who have qualified and applied for their applicable P.O.S.T. certificate between January 1st and June 30th of the calendar year will receive their P.O.S.T. Certificate Pay with the normal annual payout in July. For example, an employee who has qualified and applied for their Supervisory P.O.S.T. on August 1st will receive their P.O.S.T. Certificate Pay within two pay periods following P.O.S.T.’s receipt of application, and thereafter annually in July. An employee who has qualified and applied for their Supervisory P.O.S.T. on January 15th will be paid their P.O.S.T. Certificate Pay annually in July. If a member obtains their Management Certificate between July 1st and December 31st , the member will then receive only the difference between the Supervisory and Management Certification pay levels. All employees who receive certificate pay without the official certificate being granted by P.O.S.T. must sign a P.O.S.T. Certificate Waiver form. In addition, Association members will no longer be eligible for the City’s Educational Expense Reimbursement Program.
POST Certificate Pay. Employees in the class of Senior Investigator (Public Defender) shall, in lieu of longevity pay, receive 3.5% of base salary for possession of an Intermediate POST Certificate, and 5.0% of base salary for possession of an Advanced Certificate, for a total of 8.5%.
POST Certificate Pay. 7.1 Upon successful completion of probationary period, Peace Officers Standards & Training (POST) Certificate Pay for members shall be compensated as follows effective upon adoption of this MOU:
7.1.1 As of August 10, 2019:
7.1.1.1 Officers and Sergeants who possess a POST Intermediate Certificate shall be compensated an additional 2% of base salary from date of qualification.
7.1.1.2 Officers and Sergeants who possess a POST Advanced Certificate shall be compensated an additional 2% of base salary from date of qualification.
7.1.1.3 Sergeants who possess a POST Supervisory Certificate shall be compensated an additional 1% of base salary from date of qualification.
7.1.2 POST Certificate Pay set forth under Sections 7.1.
1.1 7.1.1.3 above is cumulative, such that a member may receive POST Certificate Pay under all three sections. For example, effective with the pay period beginning June 27, 2020, an Officer or Sergeant possessing a POST Advanced Certificate will be compensated an additional 4% (2% for Intermediate and 2% for Advanced).
POST Certificate Pay. City will provide Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) certificate pay to eligible Police Officers and Police Sergeants as follows: Intermediate Certificate: $100.00 per month Advanced Certificate: $175.00 per month Supervisory Certificate: $250.00 per month (Only those holding the rank of sergeant are eligible) Qualifying for the POST Certificate alone does not make the employee eligible to receive this benefit. The employee is only qualified to receive this benefit upon issuance of the intermediate, advanced, or supervisory certificate from POST and upon recommendation from the Department Head. In order for an employee to be eligible for the Supervisory POST Certificate Pay, he/she must also simultaneously hold and successfully pass probation for the rank of sergeant. For payroll purposes, the date stamped on the issued POST certificate will be considered the certification date. A copy of the POST certificate must be submitted to the Administrative Services Department/Personnel Division along with the recommendation from the department head. POST Certificate Pay will commence the first full month following POST certification, Department Head recommendation, and approval by the City Manager/Personnel Committee. The POST Certificate Pay is not cumulative, shall be paid for the full month just ending, and shall discontinue on the effective date that an employee is no longer holding the rank of Police Sergeant. POST Certificate Pay shall not be paid to a member who is placed on Administrative Leave as provided for in ARTICLE 7.14 of this MOU. For those members qualifying for the Supervisory POST Certificate Pay, it is not retroactive and becomes effective November 1, 2017 or the first full month after ratification of the agreement, whichever is later.
POST Certificate Pay. Qualified employees shall receive one of the following payment amounts in accordance with Exhibit A:
A. Employees in their represented classifications who have been awarded an Intermediate POST Certificate: An additional 5% of base salary.
B. Employees in their represented classifications who have been awarded an Advanced POST Certificate: An additional 2.5% of base salary for a total of 7.5%.
POST Certificate Pay. A. Unit employees hired by the City on or after November 7, 2011 shall receive the following POST Certificate Pay.
POST Certificate Pay. The City will pay all members the following California Police Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certificate incentive for the highest certificate obtained: • Intermediate P.O.S.T. – Seventy-five dollars ($75) per month • Advanced P.O.S.T. – One hundred twenty-five dollars ($125) per month
POST Certificate Pay. The incumbent of a position in a Deputy Sheriff, Sheriff’s Investigator, or D.A. Investigator classification who proves that they possess a valid Intermediate Certificate, but not an Advanced Certificate, issued to them by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training of the State of California, shall be compensated at the rates applicable to the range which is five (5) ranges higher than that specified for such position. If they prove that they possess a valid Advanced Certificate issued to them by said Commission, whether or not they possess the Intermediate Certificate, they shall be compensated at the rates applicable to the range which is ten (10) ranges higher than that specified for such position. The applicable rate for possession of the Intermediate Certificate shall be indicated in the Table and Index by the letter “A” following the class title, and for the Advanced Certificate, by the letter “B”, each with an appropriate code number, but in the departmental sections the basic position code number and class title shall be deemed to include positions occupied by incumbents possessing either of said certificates. Effective December 30, 1999 - Intermediate POST Pay for Deputy Sheriff, Sheriff Investigator, and D.A. Investigator classifications will be increased by 2% to 4.75%. The Advanced POST certificate will be 2.75% greater for a combined total of 7.5%. Also effective December 30, 1999, POST pay will be implemented for Deputy Coroners as follows: 2% for an Intermediate POST Certificate¡ an additional 2% for an Advanced POST Certificate (for a combined total of 4% for Advanced POST).
POST Certificate Pay. Sheriff’s Sergeants, Coroner Sergeants, Sheriff’s Lieutenants, Coroner Lieutenants, or Sheriff’s Captains who prove that they possess a valid Intermediate Certificate, but not an Advanced Certificate, issued to them by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training of the State of California, shall be compensated at a rate six percent (6%) higher than that specified for such position. If they prove that they possess a valid Advanced Certificate issued to them by said Commission, whether or not they possess the Intermediate Certificate, they shall be compensated at a rate which is eleven percent (11%) higher than that specified for such position. Effective June 3, 2010, Sheriff’s Sergeants, Coroner Sergeants, Sheriff’s Lieutenants, Coroner Lieutenants, or Sheriff’s Captains who prove that they possess a valid Intermediate Certificate, but not an Advanced Certificate, issued to them by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training of the State of California, shall be compensated at a rate seven percent (7%) higher than that specified for such position. If they prove that they possess a valid Advanced Certificate issued to them by said Commission, whether or not they possess the Intermediate Certificate, they shall be compensated at a rate which is twelve percent (12%) higher than that specified for such position. The applicable rate for possession of the Intermediate Certificate shall be indicated in the Table and Index by the letter "A" following the class title, and for the Advanced Certificate, by the letter "B", each with an appropriate code number, but in the departmental sections the basic position code number and class title shall be deemed to include positions occupied by incumbents possessing either of said certificates.
