Special Project Assignments. Faculty members who accept a Notice of Assignment to perform a special project shall be compensated at a mutually agreed upon stipend or load amount specified in a signed contract by the CAO before the commencement of the special project.
Special Project Assignments. Employees assigned to established special projects, for extended periods of time, which require substantially increased responsibilities and duties, compared to their normal assignment and job description, shall receive additional compensation. Prior to beginning the assignment the employee and his/her supervisor shall discuss the matter of additional compensation.
Special Project Assignments. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this contract, faculty members (both full-time and part-time) may be employed in a special projects contract providing for compensation as mutually agreed to between the superintendent/president and the faculty member. a. A special project assignment is any mutually agreed upon non-instructional assignment that requires a faculty employee to perform duties other than those that make up his or her normal teaching, counseling, library, or any other assignment for which the unit member was hired. Faculty may propose creation of a special assignment to provide academic coaching to the applicable ▇▇▇▇. Such requests shall be handled in the same manner as other non-instructional special assignments under this section. It is understood that “academic coach” as used here, differs from club advisors, in that academic coaches participate in local, regional, and/or state regularly scheduled competitive events. b. Compensation may take the form of payment or reassigned time, and will take into account the volume of work required, the complexity of the assignment, and whether a grant that funds the work already has set a pay rate for the work. Payment may be structured as a flat stipend or an ongoing payment for the duration of the work. The rate of pay for performing a service shall normally be estimated at no less than the hourly NIC lab rate of pay. The time required to carry out the assignment, the hourly or stipend amount of pay, and whether reassigned time is available for the assignment shall be determined before the assignment is made. c. Special project assignment opportunities that last a semester or longer will be posted on the Human Resources website for a reasonable period of time, at least two weeks, noting the duties, qualifications required, time commitment, deliverables, and compensation to be paid. The announcement will note whether the assignment is eligible for reassigned time. d. The selection criteria for special assignments and selection process shall be transparent. e. Part-time faculty are eligible to apply for special project assignments, unless otherwise noted in the position announcement.
Special Project Assignments. With the exception of Department Chair and Lead Instructor assignments as outlined above, a faculty member who has duties assigned during the interim periods for the performance of special projects that exist above and beyond their normal job description duties shall be paid a per diem allowance pro-rated from his/her contract salary. Interim periods are defined as the breaks between fall and spring semesters, spring and summer semesters, and summer and fall semesters. The number of such days shall be determined by the individual’s superior in consultation with the faculty member and approved by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. Further, for the purposes of the pro-ration under this provision only, the academic year shall be considered 180 days. Therefore, the following formula would apply:
Special Project Assignments. 8.D.(1) Special Project assignments (described in Section 3.11) are temporary in nature and completely voluntary. They are paid on a flat‐rate basis dependent upon the complexity of each project.
Special Project Assignments. The Deputy Chief or Fire Marshal may assign Special Project Assignments to Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit Members. When new Special Project Assignments are assigned, the Deputy Chief or Fire Marshal who oversees that work will communicate the parameters of the assignment such as scope, expected duration, and hours required. With pre-approval, time spent working on a Special Project Assignment outside of regular shift hours will be compensated at one and a half (1.5) times the hourly pay rate. Special Project Assignments include event staffing, after business hours event or business inspections, and/or supervision of the Department’s Special Teams such as Hazardous Materials, Confined Space and Water Rescue Teams. Special Project Assignments may also include standing meetings or limited duration projects including but not limited to, apparatus specification and purchase, CAD implementation and eLog update. The Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit Member assigned a Special Project Assignment will document all additional hours worked in the payroll system.
Special Project Assignments. Any new special project or assignment that is created shall be filled in accordance with this Section. In order to qualify as a special project or assignment, the following criteria must be met: A. Be of duration of at least six (6) months B. Be filled within an existing classification (or potentially out of class if a result of employee development as addressed below) C. Be of a unique nature, not currently a post or assignment If the project or assignment is created as a direct result of employee development, that employee will be assigned to that project or assignment as long as there are not external requirements that prohibit that assignment. If the project or assignment is otherwise created, it shall be filled by a selection process whereby employees shall submit a letter of interest and will be evaluated based on skills, knowledge and ability. Employees so selected shall continue to accrue seniority in their classification for the duration of the project or assignment as long as such work is determined to be within their classification. If the project or assignment ends or is terminated, the layoff and bumping provisions of the collective bargaining agreement shall apply. If the project or assignment continues beyond two (2) years, it will be referred to Labor/Management to determine how the project or assignment will be staffed going forward.
Special Project Assignments. Committee chair(s) who receive reassigned time are subject to approval by the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Situations that may lead to non-approval include, but are not limited to, a current Performance Improvement Plan or a pattern of failure to complete an MOU. Reason(s) for non-approval will be communicated to the faculty member in writing.
Special Project Assignments. ‌ 1. Special project assignments encourage broader participation and provide opportunity to all faculty to participate in shared governance and ongoing institutional improvement. ECC-NEA and the administration will work together to create a culture of broader opportunities for faculty to serve the College and be recognized and valued for the extra work they do. 2. Additional compensation in the form of payments beyond the base salary, reassigned time, or a combination thereof is provided to recognize that such work is outside the scope of the employee’s job description, performed outside of normal work responsibilities, or adds extra time spent on normal job duties. Compensation and scope of the project work, as determined between the faculty member and Vice President of Academic Affairs or designee, will be detailed on a Memorandum of Understanding. 3. Special project assignments, open to all faculty regardless of contract status, will follow a process to promote access and equitable distribution of opportunity. Faculty must initiate the request for reassigned time by working with their ▇▇▇▇ to complete a Reassigned Time application, due by October 1 for the following Spring and February 1 for the following Fall. Exceptions to this timeframe can be made with approval from the Vice President of Academic Affairs. 4. Project Identificationspecial projects may be created based upon institutional, division/department, individual faculty, state, or accreditation needs and identified by pertinent parties. 5. As applicable, special projects will be announced through the ECC-Faculty email distribution list to gauge interest and gather applications if necessary. 6. The following is not a comprehensive list but indicates the kinds of opportunities that may be available: a. acting as committee chair for standing or ad hoc committees, b. developing new courses or programs, c. developing/writing grants, d. serving as a representative on a board or in a leadership position for a professional organization or state-wide initiative, or e. developing/overseeing/participating in special projects that fulfill an institutional need. 7. Limitations – special project assignments will not exceed one (1) academic year. An end-of- project review assessing the scope and any additional needs of the project will be conducted between the faculty and other involved administrators/parties.   • Shift Assignments When an opening occurs in a shift assignment in an appropriate work group at a location, preference shall be given to employees within the classification who possess the training, ability and any required special qualifications to perform the work required, on the basis of seniority. In the event that no employee desires a shift assignment, employees shall be selected in order of inverse seniority. This provision shall not apply to necessary training assignments. This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.

  • Work Assignments Section 1. The Company shall determine whether to staff a position or fill a vacancy and the method or combination of methods it shall use for such purposes. In making this determination, the Company shall first give consideration to qualified internal candidates prior to off-street applicants. All vacancies within the Bargaining Unit shall be posted (manually or electronically) in such a fashion as to be accessible by employees. The posting shall include the title, pay range, and sufficient information regarding requirements and duties to adequately describe the vacancy. The vacancy shall remain posted for seven (7) calendar days. Section 2. In connection with Section 1. above, employees who have met a twelve (12) month time-in-title and location requirement shall be afforded the opportunity to submit to the Company a form on which they may identify their interest in being considered for vacancies which occur in the Bargaining Unit. Section 3. When a vacancy is to be filled from within the Bargaining Unit, Management will consider all qualified candidates who have forms on file relating to the vacancy in question. In selecting the employee to fill the position, the Company will first give due consideration to the candidates’ qualifications and past performance and where those factors are relatively equal, in the judgment of the Company, it shall consider seniority. Section 4. The Company agrees to provide the Union, in writing, the names and titles of all candidates selected under this Article, by the fifteenth (15th) calendar day after any such selection is made. Section 5. Nothing in this Agreement shall be applied or interpreted to restrict the Company in the exercise of its right to hire, promote or transfer; and, to the extent the needs of the business require, to have Bargaining Unit work performed by its supervisory personnel, or its right to make sales assignments without limitations.

  • Shift Assignment Should the University elect to establish a shift on any other schedule than the regular day shift (Monday through Friday) or to assign employees to work on any such shift, the employee(s) with the most seniority in the classification affected or to be assigned on such shift shall have preference in moving to such shift. If an insufficient number of employees in the classification elect to move to such shift, then the employee(s) with the least seniority in the classification shall be assigned to such shift. If positions or shifts are reduced or eliminated or movement of personnel to other shifts is required, then the seniority of the affected employee will prevail in the selection of shift, provided the affected employee can do the required work. Such shift preference is only applicable within the employee's classification.
