Temporary Assignments. A. Non-bargaining unit employees who are assigned to replace an employee on a leave of absence or on workers' compensation shall be considered temporarily assigned employees and shall not attain seniority in the unit and shall not be covered by the terms of this contract. In the event there is no capable Employee available in the work place, the above order of priority shall be accorded to Employees within the division. In the course of selecting an Employee for temporary assignment consideration shall be given to an Employee's continuous length of service in the class within the jurisdiction. For purposes of this Article, work place shall be defined as that organizational segment which contains the position to which a temporary assignment is to be made, including its subordinate organizational segment. In the event an Employee with greater class seniority is not selected for the temporary assignment, the Employee shall, upon request, be given a verbal written statement of the reason by Management for not receiving non-selection.
C. The Employer shall compensate Employees for temporary assignments within thirty (30) days (approximately two pay periods) from the end of each payroll period in which the temporary assignments are performed.
D. Whenever an Employee performs a temporary assignment, the Employer shall provide the Employee with a Union representative presentrecord of the temporary assignment as evidence of such service for the Employee's personal use and file. The Applicable temporary assignment decision will not, in any case, experience may be subject to the grievance procedureclaimed by an Employee when applying for promotions.

D. Whenever an Employee performs a temporary assignment, the Employer shall provide the Employee with a Union representative presentrecord of the temporary assignment as evidence of such service for the Employee's personal use and file. The Applicable temporary assignment decision will not, in any case, experience shall be subject to the grievance procedurerecognized and applied for an Employee when applying for promotions.

Temporary Assignments. A. Non-bargaining unit employees who are 01An employee temporarily assigned to replace an employee on another job classification for a leave period of absence or on workers' compensation shall be considered temporarily assigned employees and shall not attain seniority in the unit and shall not be covered by the terms of this contract.
B. When an employee in the bargaining unit is qualified for and is temporarily assigned by the Sheriff in writing to perform the majority of the duties and responsibilities in a position of a higher class or rank within the bargaining unit for at least one full pay period, such employee shall receive an increase of a minimum of five percent (5%) to a maximum of ten percent (10%) more than his/her current annual wage, except in the event that step one of the new class is ten percent (10%) above the current annual wage said employee shall be placed in step one of the new class.
C. Temporarily assigned employees may remain in the temporary assignment for the duration of the regular employee's absence, not to exceed two (2) yearshours or more, excepting a temporary assignment resulting from shortage of work or disciplinary demotion, will receive the regular straight time hourly rate of the job classification to which he is assigned, or the regular straight time hourly rate of the job classification he previously held, whichever is the higher, except that this provision shall not apply to an employee receiving a Progression rate of pay, who shall, while performing such temporary assignment, continue to receive his Progression rate of pay, and not the rate for the job which might be greater, until such time that he has completed thirty-six (36) months of active service. Temporary Assignments. A. Non-16.01 As production levels dictate, the Company can temporarily assign employees between bargaining unit employees who are assigned to replace an units within the Company.

16.06 It is not the intention of this Article to circumvent the bargaining unit members’ right to recall from lay off or termination. The purpose of this Article is to allow the Company the flexibility to move staff from one (1) Union jurisdiction to another as additional staff in times of the new class is ten percent (10%) above the current annual wage said increased productions requirements.
16.07 In all cases of available work, any laid off employee shall be placed in step one of have first entitlement to the new classwork.
