The 'Union Conventions and Seminars' clause establishes the rights and procedures for union members or representatives to attend conventions, seminars, or similar union-related events. Union Conventions and Seminars a. Employees elected or appointed by the Union to attend conventions, schools and conferences of the Union, shall be granted leave of absence without pay, provided that the Employer is given at least ten (10) working days advance written notice of the leave. The Parties may mutually agree to exceptions to this notice period.
b. No more than ten (10) employees may be absent at any one time and such leaves cannot total more than sixty (60) working days in one (1) academic year, excluding travel time. The Employer may refuse a request for such leave of absence where two (2) or more employees requesting such leave are from the same department.
c. The Employer shall continue to pay the Employee’s wages and any benefits, including statutory benefits, based on the Employee’s basic rate during such leave. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for such costs.
