Union Leave Pool. A. Effective the first full pay period after October 1 of each year in accordance with Article 17, Section 2, three (3) additional hours vacation leave per filled Fire Fighter position per year will be deducted to establish and maintain a pool of leave hours. This leave will establish a pool of paid time to be granted to individuals selected by the Union to conduct Union business hereinafter referred to as “Union Leave.” Leave usage will be governed by the following guidelines: 1. No carry-over of leave pool hours. 2. Limit to the number of persons off at any given time: ▇▇▇▇-▇, ▇▇▇-▇, and one (1) each from Services, Arson, Fire Prevention, Training, and Communications. 3. Limit to the number of persons off per Firefighting company-1. 4. Not more than six (6) persons off at the same time. 5. Leave increment must be equal to or greater than eight (8) hours for Firefighting or EMS divisions and four (4) hours for all forty (40) hour divisions. 6. Where leave increments are above the minimum hours, said increments must be not less than two (2) hours. 7. Request for leave must be made by the Union President or her/his designee. 8. Request for leave must be directed to the Fire Chief or her/his designee, via e-mail or fax. 9. Request for leave must be received at the Fire Chief’s Office prior to 12:00p.m., (noon), of the shift prior to the shift of leave usage. 10. Request for leave must be in writing, signed by the Union President or her/his designee, include the names and assignments of employees selected to be on Union Leave and indicate the duration of leave requested for each employee. 11. Employees participating in initial specialized training, (Paramedic or Arson), shall not be authorized to utilize Union Leave while participating in said training. 12. The Fire Chief may deny a request for Union Leave where said request is for an employee assigned to the following positions: Special Projects, Professional Standards, Personnel, Training, Services, Fire Prevention, Arson, Special Teams Coordinator, Safety Officer, and personnel performing special projects receiving higher classification. However, members of the Union Executive Board in any such position shall be subject to Section 4.A.13. of this Article. 13. Union Leave Pool. This section shall apply to Union officials who are members of the collective bargaining unit and presently employed by the County. A leave pool will be created for use by the Union for conducting Union business on behalf of the bargaining unit. See ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇.
Union Leave Pool. A leave pool will be created for use by the Union for Union business. The BCC shall grant 120 hours per fiscal year to the pool. These hours will not be carried forward if time is not used. Bargaining Unit members may contribute Annual Leave time voluntarily, provided that all donated time is submitted to the Human Resources Department no later than the last pay period in September of each year. Human Resources shall maintain all records of pool time accrual and usage. The Union will be responsible for notifying Human Resources during the same pay period that the pool time is used. Pool time will be used in one-hour increments. Union activities include training, bargaining, meetings or processing grievances.The BCC will consider requests by Union officers to engage in Union business or activity and may approve requests at the discretion of the Department Director. Time off granted for such purposes shall be without pay unless it is covered by pool time. Such time off shall not be unreasonably withheld, however, such time away from work will be used only with the advance, written approval of the appropriate supervisor for each occasion. To ensure accurate timekeeping, the employee shall check out with his/her supervisor upon departure, and in with the same supervisor upon return to duty.
Union Leave Pool. 6.1.1. At the commencement of each new calendar year the District will deduct six (6) hours of vacation accrual from each employee and place this accumulative time in a Union Leave Pool bank for union leave use. 6.1.2. Use of the leave pool will be approved by the Union’s E-Board through the current leave management system. 6.1.3. The leave pool cannot have a negative balance. 6.1.4. The unused accrued time in the leave pool shall roll over each year. 6.1.5.   • Union Leave Leave of absence for Union business shall be given without pay up to a maximum of (as per the local provisions under L19) days per calendar year provided such leave does not interfere with the continuance of efficient operation of the Hospital. Such leave shall be subject to the following conditions: (a) not more than (as per the local provisions under L19) employees of the Hospital are absent on any such leave at the same time, and not more than (as per the local provisions under L19) employee from a department; (b) a request must be made in writing at least twenty-one days prior to the commencement of the function for which leave is requested, unless it is not reasonably possible to give such notice; (c) such request shall state the general nature of the function to be attended; (d) employees on a Union Leave which is approved by the Hospital in accordance with the above conditions shall be paid for such leave by the Hospital. The Hospital shall then forward a statement of such wages paid to the employee affected to the union for reimbursement of the amount stated; (e) an employee who is elected or appointed to office with the CAW, shall upon application by the Union in writing, be granted a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits for up to three (3) years. An extension shall be granted upon written application by the employee to the administration of the Hospital. During such leaves of absence, salary and benefits shall be kept whole by the Hospital and the Union agrees to reimburse the Hospital for such salary and the Hospital's contribution to said benefits. The employee agrees to notify the Hospital of the employee's intention to return to work within two (2) weeks following the termination of office for which the leave was granted. The union agrees to notify the Hospital five (5) months in advance of the Local Union election. The union further agrees that the requirement to meet under Article 14 will be waived. At the end of such leave, any employee hired or placed as a substitute for the employee on such absence, may be terminated or laid off by the Hospital as required, or may be transferred to the employee's previous position if the substitution was a transfer. An employee on leave of absence under this provision shall continue to accumulate all rights and privileges under this Agreement. It is understood that the intent of this article is that it shall normally apply to only one employee at a time per circumstance as noted above, and that the Union shall provide adequate notice prior to an employee commencing Union Leave of Absence. Further applications may be granted consistent with the Hospital’s staffing requirements. In addition, it is understood that any employee so elected or appointed is required to maintain their competence in the event that they are to return to the workplace.

  • Union Leaves The Union shall be granted a combined total of eighty (80) hours leave per year with pay to attend conferences, conventions, workshops, and other meetings of the local, state, and/or national Unions, PROVIDED that no member shall take more than forty (40) hours total per year. Employees shall be released from regularly assigned duties under the following provisions: A. That such release time is requested in writing to the President with a copy to the employee's immediate supervisor by the Union, B. If it is determined that a substitute is needed, the Union will reimburse the College for the cost of substitute(s) compensation for each such release within thirty (30) days after billing, C. That the written request will be made by the Union at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the requested leave to give maximum advance notification to the College when release time is needed. D. And the Union President shall determine which members will be allowed to use Union leave.

  • Union Leave of Absence 22:01 (a) The Employer shall grant leave of absence to employees to attend Union conventions, seminars, educational classes or other Union business. It is understood that the Union will not request leave of absence for more than four (4) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at any one time and the total leave of absence in any year shall be not more than an aggregate of thirty (30) working days for full- time employees and fifteen (15) working days for part- time employees. Longer leaves of absence will be approved at management’s discretion and will not be unreasonably withheld. Such leaves of absence shall not seriously disrupt the operations of the Home, and shall be requested as far in advance as possible, in writing to the Home Administrator, with a copy to the Human Resources Associate. It is further understood that the leave of absence shall be granted without pay and the Union shall be responsible for the payment of wages during the period of absence. (b) The parties agree the employer will continue the regular compensation for the employees on such leave, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in a timely fashion for all costs associated with the compensation for the employees. The parties agree that the Employer is not liable for any WSIB claims that may arise while the employee is on union leave as described in 22.01 (a). 22:02 An employee who is elected or appointed to office in the Unifor, upon request and provision of six (6) weeks notice, shall be granted a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits for up to three (3) years. During such leaves of absence, salary and benefits shall be kept whole by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for such salary and the Employers' contribution to said benefits. Ft&Pt 22:04 Employees on leave of absence under this Article shall continue to accumulate all rights and privileges under this Agreement.

  • Union Business Leave ‌ 1. The officers and representatives of the Union are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Stewards. The President of the Union shall provide the City with a roster of officers and representatives and keep the City informed of any changes in that roster. 2. Up to three (3) representatives of the Union shall be allowed time off for negotiations or conferences with City Officials, without loss of pay or benefits, provided that the City’s operations shall always take priority over other business. Off-duty personnel will not be compensated for such negotiations, conferences or hearings. 3. Officers of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to conduct union business that cannot be conducted during off-duty time. 4. Officers and/or representatives of the Union shall be granted time off, without loss of pay, to attend training classes without loss of pay or benefits to further management-employee relations. 5. The number of days off with pay and benefits under paragraphs 3 and 4 shall not exceed an aggregate of four (4) days for the entire bargaining unit per calendar year. All requests for leave pursuant to paragraphs 3 and 4 shall be submitted in writing to the City Manager no less than ten (10) working days prior to the date of the requested leave. 6. Any Officer or ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ of the Union shall be allowed to investigate any situation/issue brought to his/her attention by either union members or management. If the nature of the issue is such that expedited handling will result in prompt disposition thereof without interference to department operations then management shall allow the Officer/▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ to investigate the matter while on duty, provided that City operations will always take priority over other business. It is further understood that time spent by Officers/Stewards on Union related matters while off duty is non-compensable. Time spent by Officers/Stewards processing matters through the grievance procedure, attending disciplinary sessions with supervisors, and attending disciplinary and/or administrative hearings before appropriate authorities shall only be paid during their regularly scheduled workweek. 7. Staff representatives of the Union shall be allowed to meet with employees during unpaid lunch and/or coffee breaks to the degree the meetings do not disrupt the workplace.
