The regular work hours each day shall be consecutive except for interruption for two (2) fifteen (15) minute coffee breaks (normally one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon) at times to be scheduled by the Supervisor and a lunch period to be scheduled by the Supervisor (duration covered below). WORK HOURS AND WORK WEEK. Section 1: The current practice and policy regarding work week, hours of work and overtime will remain in effect except as otherwise specifically set forth herein. Effective upon the execution of this collective bargaining unit agreement, all Laundry Department employees shall work a seven day rotating schedule. This shall include working Saturday, Sunday and official Holidays that occur on weekends as part of their base schedule. Employees who work in patient clothing shall continue to work their current schedule. Section 2: Overtime shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1½) the employee's regular hourly rate of pay for each hour worked in excess of the normal week. In computing hours worked for purposes of overtime, all paid time, with the exception of sick time or time taken in lieu of sick time, shall be counted as hours worked. Section 3: Weekend duty (Nursing Dept. Aides) Section 4: Lateness shall be docked on a minute-for-minute basis. Employees hired on or after May 18, 1995 in the Engineering Department shall be required to work a forty (40) hour work week exclusive of a one-half hour unpaid lunch period.   • Work Week and Work Day (a) (Applicable to full-time employees only) The normal or standard work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours, with a normal or standard work day of seven and one-half (7½) hours except in those Hospitals where agreements already provide a standard or normal work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours per week and seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. (Those Hospitals with the lesser required hours shall reflect in the salary rates a pro-rata lesser amount compared with salaries for other Hospitals based on the ratio that the standard or normal hours of work at the Hospital concerned are to thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours and shall appropriately reflect such hours in this Article). The length of time over which the hours of work per week are to be averaged shall be determined locally and shall be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix. (b) (applicable to part-time employees only) The normal or standard work day shall be seven and one-half (7½) hours per day and the normal or standard full- time work week shall be an average of thirty-seven and one- half (37½) hours per week except in those hospitals where agreements already provide a normal or standard work day of less than seven and one-half hours and a normal or standard full-time work week of less than thirty-seven and one-half (37½) hours. (c) Where the Hospital and the Union agree, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Labour, other arrangements regarding hours of work may be entered into between parties on a local level with respect to tours beyond the normal or standard work day in accordance with the provisions set out in Article 25.01 of the collective agreement.

  • Work Day and Work Week The normal work day shall consist of up to 8 hours of work within a 24-hour period. The normal work week shall consist of up to 40 hours of work within a 7-day period. The Employer may define the work week on an individual, department, shift or facility basis in accordance with Federal and State law.

Each employee shall be assigned regular starting and ending times, which shall not be changed without prior notice. Should an employee be required to work during his/her lunch hour, the length of such interruption shall be counted as time worked unless other arrangements are made with his/her supervisor.
