Flexibly Staffed Classifications. The job duties of employees hired into flexibly staffed classifications within this unit shall be formally evaluated no later than eighteen (18) months from date of appointment to the classification to determine whether duties performed justify a reallocation to the higher level of the flexibly staffed classification. Such evaluations may be performed by the supervisor(s) in conjunction with Human Resources Department staff, and recommendations for advancement shall require approval of the City Manager or a designated representative.
Flexibly Staffed Classifications. Flexibly staffed classifications are those so defined by adopted class specifications. Advancement from one level of a flexibly staffed classification to the next level of a flexibly staffed classification (e.g., from Management Analyst I to Management Analyst II) may occur when a position is authorized at the higher level but filled at the lower level and there is a department need. At such time, upon the request of the Department Director and approval by the City Manager, incumbents may advance to the higher level upon attainment of the required training, education, and/or experience, who have demonstrated proficiency in the member’s area of assignment. The requirements for advancement within a flexibly staffed series are those established by the adopted job specification.
Flexibly Staffed Classifications. ‌ 1. Flexible staffing is used to designate classifications in a promotional series in which both the entry and journey level classes are assigned the same kinds of duties, the difference being the range of duties performed, the level of skill required, and the amount of supervision received. 2. Eligibility requirements include: the employee must have successfully completed the probationary period for the entry-level classification, have completed the time in the current classification as required for advancement to the higher level positions, and meets the minimum experience qualifications in the classification specification for the higher level classification. Experience within and outside County employment may be used. 3. The employee must be currently assigned the full range of duties associated with the higher-level classification and demonstrating the potential to succeed at this level. 4. Employees will be flexed to the next highest class in the series as soon as they are eligible, unless Personnel is previously notified that the employee does not meet the above criteria.

  • New Classifications If a new classification is created within the bargaining unit, the Employer agrees to meet with the Union and negotiate a rate of pay for this new classification. If the parties cannot reach agreement, at the request of either party, the matter shall be submitted to the arbitration procedure in Article 26 of this Agreement.

  • New Classification Should a new position or new classification be created within the Bargaining Unit during the term of this Agreement, the Employer and the Union will decide the rate of pay. Nothing herein prevents the Employer from filling such positions and having Nurses working in such positions during such negotiations. The salary when determined will be retroactive to the date on which the successful candidate commenced work in that classification.
