Geotechnical Explorations. ▇▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇ will subcontract with a geotechnical subconsultant (“Geo-Tech”) to provide geotechnical investigations for the project. Geo-Tech’s scope of services for this project will consist of the following: 1. Two (2) soil borings to depths of six (6) feet below existing grade in the existing roadway right-of- way. Soil borings will be performed as described below to classify subgrade and ground water elevation. a. One (1) soil borings on the west side of West ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Drive south of Avenue K NE. b. One (1) soil boring on the east side of East ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Drive south of Avenue K NE. Samples will be recovered from the roadway soil borings per ASTM standards and returned to the laboratory for visual classification per the AASHTO Classification Group System. A report will be issued, to the City and EOR, presenting the findings, evaluations and recommendations to aid in the design of the proposed roadway expansion. Pavement cores for the project shall be provided by the CITY and will include sufficient depth to determine existing base depth and material type. A. Permitting Assistance 1. Southwest Florida Water Management District Environmental Resource Permit (Exemption) – One (1) exemption letter request will be prepared accounting for the revised conditions proposed by the proposed improvements. A letter of exemption is anticipated for the project given the overall proposed safety improvement for the project and the fact that additional roadway capacity is not being added to the facility. Permitting services beyond the requirements for a letter mod as required by the SWFWMD will be considered additional services.

Geotechnical Explorations. The ENGINEER will subcontract with Intertek-PSI Inc. to provide geotechnical investigations needed for the PROJECT. Intertek-PSI’s scope of services for this project will consist of the following: A. Review readily available published geologic and topographic information. This published information will be obtained from the appropriate quadrangle map published by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the "Soil Survey of Sumter County, Florida" published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Soil Conservation Service (SCS). B. Execute a program of pavement borings. As part of these borings, existing asphalt and base materials will be cored at up to ten locations to measure the asphalt and base thickness and to identify the type of encountered pavement materials. Furthermore, shallow manual auger borings (up to 2 feet below the exposed subgrade elevation) will be performed through these same ten core holes to identify existing subgrade and soil characteristics. The pavement borings, which will be collected at pavement crack locations if feasible, will be spaced throughout the PROJECT limits and will be staggered between the northbound and southbound travel lanes. C. Provide maintenance of traffic during pavement boring operations. D. Perform up to forty-one (41) manual auger borings in the easterly right-of-way to a depth of 5 feet below the existing grade. This quantity is based on collecting one auger boring every two-hundred feet on the east side of the proposed roadway. E. Assess the feasibility of utilizing conventional road construction techniques for the project. F. Assess native soils in the roadway area for use as engineered fill during construction of the project. Soils will be classified using the AASHTO Soil Classification System. G. Identify groundwater levels and provide recommendations for estimated normal seasonal high groundwater levels along the roadway. H. Provide recommendations for soil subgrade preparation, including stripping, grubbing and compaction. I. Provide general location and description of potentially deleterious materials encountered in the borings which may interfere with construction progress or roadway performance, including existing fills and or surficial organic soils. J. Provide recommendations regarding the roadway base clearance relative to the estimated normal seasonal high groundwater levels. K. Geotechnical Explorations. The County has asked that we provide a geotechnical exploration coordination and oversight services for three slope failures at Slab Creek Road, Cape Lookout Road, and ▇▇▇▇▇ Road that have put adjacent roads at risk of losing a lane to continued movement due to erosion and/or undercutting of the slopes. Specific services to be completed include the following items. • Coordinate clearance of existing site utilities via the One-Call Service. • Subcontract and coordinate a drilling subcontractor to complete five (5) borings: • Observe drilling by a subcontractor of six boring locations at four sites. • Obtain samples at representative intervals from the explorations using Standard Penetration Test (SPT), Dames and ▇▇▇▇▇, or ▇▇▇▇▇▇ tube methods, observe groundwater conditions, and maintain detailed logs of each exploration in general accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Test Method D 2488. • Provide project management and support services, including staff coordination, subcontractor coordination, and telephone consultations with the design team and County staff. • Tillamook County personnel will ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ locations prior to us contacting the One-Call Service. • Field work for the three sites will be completed consecutively. One drilling mobilization is assumed. Separate mobilizations will result in increased costs. • Geotechnical field work at all locations can be completed in 5 days during the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. • Traffic control will be provided by Tillamook County and one lane will be closed during drilling. • Tillamook County will provide any required permits at no cost to ▇▇▇▇▇ & ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and provide site access. • No contaminated soils will be encountered. • Soil cuttings will be drummed and disposed of off site by the drilling contractor. • Borings will be located in the field by measuring from site landmarks. ▇▇▇▇▇ & ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will not survey the boring locations.
