Preliminary Foundation Report Sample Clauses

Preliminary Foundation Report. Yeh will compile and review published reports, maps, historical photos, and drawings pertinent to the proposed project. This review will specifically include reviewing Log of Test Borings prepared for the overcrossing completed by Caltrans in the1950’s and 1990’s. Yeh will perform a preliminary geotechnical evaluation of the site using the existing information and prepare a Preliminary Foundation Report for Earth Retaining Systems (PFR) for the proposed project in accordance with Caltrans guidelines. The report will be submitted for review by the design team. Comments and input from their review will be incorporated into reports prepared for the Design Phase services. The report will discuss the existing site setting, topography, drainage, regional and site geology, faulting and seismicity. The report will discuss the potential for the site and design of the project to be impacted geologic hazards such as seismic shaking, fault rupture, liquefaction or seismic settlement, erosion, slope instability and rock fall. Geotechnical considerations regarding the anticipated subsurface conditions, groundwater, excavation characteristics, soft ground, existing fills and grading for roadway construction will also be discussed and any specific geotechnical considerations related to the project alternatives. Preliminary recommendations for graded cut and fill slopes, the roadway structural sections (estimated based on an assumed R-value of 15 and Traffic Index of 12 indicated in the RFP). Anticipated wall types include Caltrans standard walls. Yeh will provide graphics as needed and discuss geotechnical considerations for wall type selection relative to the project and potential constraints. ✓ Preliminary Foundation Report for Earth Retaining Systems (PFR).
Preliminary Foundation Report. A Preliminary Foundation Report will be prepared to provide preliminary geotechnical recommendations to assist structural designers in the Type Selection process for the bridge. This report will be prepared using available subsurface data and the format will be in accordance with current Caltrans Guidelines; no soil boring or testing will be performed.
Preliminary Foundation Report. This task includes the effort to prepare a preliminary Foundation Report (PFR). This document is used as part of the Type Selection process. The PFR is used to document existing foundation conditions, make preliminary foundation recommendations, and identify the need for additional investigations and studies. • Project Location • Summary of site geology and subsurface conditions. • Corrosion evaluation • Preliminary Seismic Study • Preliminary Foundation Recommendations • Additional Field Work and Laboratory Testing • Preliminary Foundation Report 240.75 DRAFT GENERAL PLAN (TYPE SELECTION) This task includes all efforts required to develop, review, approve and distribute draft Structures General Plans. The Preliminary Plan Approval process is part of this task and generally includes Type Selection Meetings. Approved preliminary plans are the approved General Plans. • Prepare Preliminary Design • Prepare Preliminary Plan Sheets • Prepare Preliminary Quantities • Prepare Preliminary Estimates • Prepare Preliminary Specifications • Prepare Type Selection Report • Perform a Constructability Review • Conduct Type Selection Meting • Update General Plans and General Plan Estimate • Obtain Preliminary Plan Approval • Distribute approved General Plans Deliverables: • Type Selection Report • Approved General Plans 240.80 PREPARE FOUNDATION REPORT This task includes all efforts required to produce Foundation Reports (FR). Foundation Reports are required for all structures when new or widening to existing structures is proposed. The FR requires sufficient subsurface exploration to characterize geologic and geotechnical conditions for the structure. Foundation Reports utilize information collected during subsurface exploration to provide recommendations that support both the design and construction of the structure. The Foundation Report will be prepared in accordance with the Caltrans Guidelines for Structures Foundation Reports Manual (2006). The FR shall provide, but not be limited to, the following: • Project Location • Summary of Site Geology and Subsurface Conditions • Ground Water • Scour Evaluation • Corrosion Evaluation • Seismic Study • As-Built Foundation Data • Foundation Recommendations • Slope Stability Analyses • General Notes to the DesignerConstruction Considerations In addition to the FR, the Log of Test Borings (LOTB), which presents the description, in graphic and text format, of the types of soil and rock encountered during the subsurface explor...
Preliminary Foundation Report. ENGEO will prepare a preliminary geotechnical report that will include a summary of the surface and subsurface conditions, seismicity, laboratory test data, boring log data, preliminary slope stability analysis, and a site plan showing our exploratory locations and landslide geometry. We will include a section that discusses the conceptual alternatives along with our preferred recommendation to stabilize the recent landslide. The ENGEO report will be signed by a licensed California Geotechnical Engineer and California Certified Engineering Geologist.
Preliminary Foundation Report. Soil Borings, Soil Sampling, and Soil Infiltration Testing Caltrans is enforcing the AASHTO recommendations of a soil boring at each bridge support locations where substructure width is less than 100 feet; minimum of two borings are required per location where substructure width is greater than 100 feet. For retaining walls, a soil boring is required every 100 to 200 feet. Also, per Caltrans, a soil boring is required for every overhead sign. For proposed embankments and roadway improvements, a soil boring is proposed every 500 to 750 feet. Based on this, Consultant’s geotechnical field investigation plan is presented in table below. Data obtained from some boreholes will be used for multiple design elements. The boreholes will be excavated using a truck-mounted or track-mounted drilling rig. Asphalt concrete cold-patch will be used to replace asphalt that is removed by excavations, and quick-set cement will be used to replace concrete that is removed by excavations. Design Element Proposed Number of Borings Approximate Proposed Depth (feet) 2 150 Overhead Signs 4 40 Roadway Improvements 8 15 – 40
Preliminary Foundation Report. To support the preliminary design phase of the project, CONSULTANT will prepare a PFR in general accordance with Caltrans standards found in the Caltrans Geotechnical Manual - Foundation Reports for Bridges (January 2021). The purpose of the PFR will be to document existing conditions, make preliminary foundation recommendations, and fine-tune the scope of additional design-level geotechnical investigations. Preparation of the PFR will be based on literature review, aerial photograph interpretation, review of as-built data, review of existing geotechnical documents, and site reconnaissance. The PFR will include the following: Pre-Field Activities. Office research will consist of the following:
Preliminary Foundation Report. CAInc will prepare a Preliminary Foundation Report as part of alternatives analysis, Type Selection and preliminary cost estimates. The memorandum will be based on available subsurface data, as-built drawings, published geologic mapping and seismicity data, aerial photographs, preliminary project data and a site review. No subsurface exploration will be completed for this task. The Preliminary Foundation Memorandum will summarize anticipated earth materials and conditions based on reference data and site exposures; provide seismic input parameters consistent with current Caltrans practice; discuss roadway approaches, retaining walls and pavement options; and discuss foundation types, channel scour and liquefaction potential. Shall include a description of the project; a site description; geologic conditions; a summary of field explorations, laboratory testing and design recommendations. Design recommendations shall include:
